The papers feed all this, but to be honest just looking at things logically, bar ridiculously risky release clause where we'd have to accept losses, I don't see us getting any bigger names permanently. I hope I'm massively wrong of course.
Yes it's easy clicks from the most desperate and deluded fanbase on planet earth. The fact Amanda Staveley had told them repeatedly to be patient, it's a long plan, it's 250million on the 1st team over 5 years (as much as we can) plus investment in all other areas seems to have been ignored. The media are setting them up again like you say...
I don’t see any top players being linked. The ones I think are realistic are as follows and with reasons. Trippier - wants back in the PL and is 31 so his last big contract. Botman - Playing for Lille. Not a world class well Renowned player. Lingaard - Rotting at Manu, 29 so coming towards the final years at the top. World Cup year so needs games. Tarwokowski - He’s at Burnley. I don’t see any problems with the above.
I don’t understand why you are being negative about things. It’s like you want to go the opposite way to the general hope. Err on the side of caution so you are right. Rather than dream a little. I don’t think many of us are expecting the worlds best players or anything close.
I'm not being negative mate I just know what's going on here isn't the big win people think it is and like I said previously it's still a big step fwd from the Ashley regime, but any plans to step above our station are going to be denied. Also I can see it coming when they've not got what you were anticipating they'll start complaining and questioning the new owners intent because they simply can't grasp this isn't a computer game All im saying is things are going to be much better, but I'm not fooling myself about what the clubs actual position is.
Trippier is playing though and if he wants back he will have better options that don't involve relegation roulette. Botman - AC Milan have a long standing interest so his standing is pretty good now. Full international so few secrets there. Lingard - on loan only, he won't see much value in coming here unless there is a release clause, but I think a loan is realistic. Not trying to be negative but I think you've got to look at the other side of the coin too. I think Trippier would think long and hard, I think he would end up leaving it to the last day of the window and see what his options are. Tarkowski - I actually do expect to see this.
Fair enough. And let’s be honest the last 14 years have meant we are used to things not happening. But it’s happened. The takeover has happened. Ashley is gone. And the new owners want to invest and grow the club and it has to start somewhere. And we are in a hell of a mess so it’s going to be a massive task. But again little improvements here and there. Every positive change is a step in the right direction. I don’t personally think we can avoid relegation. But we might. And the club still has a unique pull for players. Have faith my friend. When we succeed when the odds are stacked against us it will taste all that big sweeter.
I agree and you know me I’m mr negative. I’ve considered the options and the current situation we are in but I still think some positive acquisitions are on the horizon. I also expect us to probably get relegated but let’s go down fighting. Screaming and kicking our legs. Rather than in limp mode with some of the players we currently have. The future is bright.
Mate I haven't disputed any of that It's just this 'fair' trick im not falling for.. It's an evil in disguise.. Hansel and grertal type stuff
I believe Trippier is done, if it's not I bet its 20 times easier to sign him than Tarkowski - We may get him in the summer but never in this window. I would even state one of the ridiculous ones mentioned like Icardi, Aubameyang, etc will be easier than Tarkowaki or Mee.
Yeah selling to a relegation rival is the issue. However when you look at it, he is out of contract in the summer, and if he kicks up a fuss, that could be worse for them than him leaving. I think they might cash in.
