I haven’t got the energy to check the voting records of all the Tory rebels who thought covid passports were a grave imposition on the massive liberties of the English*. So I just checked one, Marcus Fysh, who feels that we are now in a parallel Nazi Germany because the measure was passed by those with jobs in Government and Labour **.
Mr Fysh, so determined to defend our freedoms, has repeatedly voted in favour of extending surveillance of our communications and activities, and for retaining personal communications for extended periods. Now, I’m not sure about the others but the vast majority seem to share certain characteristics in common, let’s say European Research Group type traits, so it’s a fair guess that their libertarian/ social conservatism tendencies will squeeze them into similar odd conflicts.
* I know a couple, including Steve Baker who put it quite eloquently, have questioned the utility of covid passports based on two jabs when we are told that two jabs aren’t enough. I agree.
** on the basis of * the lack of utility of these passports, Labour could have inflicted a little defeat on Boris on this one, but for some reason, didn’t.
