I will be doing a Peter Beagrie flip whilst sipping a double Bacardi and coke and eating a prawn sandwich.
We were playing in the PL before these Buffon's bought us and Barclays Asia's trophy does nothing for me but agree with the rest.
Actually, scrub the flip as I'll probably do myself an injury. The drink and food is set in stone though. I'm defrosting the prawns as we speak.
Wasn't the Asia Trophy pre Allam? For me 5 out of 10 is generous. I agree we've exceeded expectations but what we've sacrificed along the way just wasn't worth it. BUT! Here's to making new history hopefully with everybody on board. I cannot wait to return to games and I'm sure there's plenty like me. Genuinely excited for Boxing Day (if everything has gone through) to welcome Ilicali. Hopefully we can all dare to dream again.
It wasn’t good luck, they were the rules at the time, plenty of teams have come runners up and played in Europe, and done ok, we didn’t but it was still fantastic.
In a reflective moment, wrongly stated Barclays Asia Trophy during the Allams tenure, that was 2009, the year before The Allams took over. Moreover how could I forget when I had dinner in The Hyatt with Paul Duffen sat at the next table!
That's something I can only ever imagine a City fan saying.... "We got to the FA cup final and Europe!" "Yeah but only because everyone else was worse than us"
Do you include the kids who were priced out because of an unprecedented rise in season tickets that now no longer go because their parents found something else to do with their time or pensioners who were similarly priced out of attending, including the OAPs who passed without getting the chance to return to games, when you say “we as fans” or do you mean “we” as in “those of us who benefitted from others’ misfortune”?
That moral dilemma could be levelled at anyone who has sat in that stadium since the concession debacle?? I have, have you?
The problem with the Allams was that they never really understood that a football club was a completely different animal to a business. They couldn’t just do what they wanted as they did with their business. They presumed that fans would always just turn up and once fans revolted against the decisions they made, their ego’s and pride (particularly Ehab) got in the way of doing the right thing for the club. The most exciting thing about this takeover (and to be fair I was ready to take a chance on anyone!) is that Acun 100% understands the difference between club and business. He understands what it is to be a fan as he is one. He’s ready to pour heart and soul (and money) into this and I for one cannot wait for this new era to begin.
Second thoughts then, we should get ourselves a lynch mob and march onto the stadium and drag them out by their legs, strip them naked and hang them from Anlaby Road flyover. Would that suffice ?
I was a founder member and used to be sat in W5 from the opening of the Stadium. The Allams forced a lot supporters to relinquish their seats with unprecedented price increases and the abolishment of concessions! I had previously been a season ticket holder in the West Stand at Boothferry Park. Living a round trip of 360 miles for a home game. I could never forgive them for their treatment of fans and the lack of communication with disabled supporters. I was quite proud to be a Founder member of the Stadium and it was nice to be recognised with the other founder members on the Board in the foyer of the Main entrance. The said Board being removed during the present ownership it’s whereabouts not known! I’m not a big fan of the Allams and they could have achieved so much without alienating supporters. I for one can’t wait for a change of ownership and the running of the Club by football minded owners. Billy B Paperboy( Supporter since 1954) Now resident in E5
I'm not sure what you think people might be planning to mark their departure, an open top bus parade perhaps? I think most will just be sat at home, thinking, thank **** for that.
I didn't say that. I said we was fortunate with the draw, which we was. The only PL team we played we lost to. We didn't deserve to lose but we did. Europe came as a consequence of benefiting from a good draw. Our European experience was an embarrassment.
