The Allams have been utter ****esters and I'll be glad to see the back of them, but that doesn't change the fact that we've only ever reached an FA Cup final and played in Europe under their stewardship and I'm pretty sure everyone here enjoyed that ride. Whilst not being in the most healthiest of positions, they will be leaving us a far cry from being locked out of our own stadium. I'll certainly celebrate when they leave but I think there needs to be a bit of perspective here.
I'll take the position they will leave us in over almost any other position an owner has left us in, bar maybe AP. ( Can't remember the full facts and financial make up of the AP sale and if he left us debt free etc )
I think when ap left us we were debt free, hopefully takeover is announced soon think a few fans are doubting if it will go ahead
We only got into Europe through good luck and to be honest our cup draw was very favourable (still great getting there though)
We got there because of a situation which will not be repeated because that season they altered the rules which allowed it.
When it's done I don't want any of the usual scarf held over the head ****. They should leave flares on all our seats instead of the little flags and clapper things, which we let off as Acun plants a massive Tigers flag in the centre circle - Souness style. Yeah!
I can't stand the mention of Souness and I really hate the scarf or shirt lifted in the air. Totally embarrassing.
Agree we had a favourable run but you could beat the top 5 clubs in the PL on the way to the Final now but not get into Europe as losing Cup Finalists. It wasn't some conspiracy because we did it, it had been decided on quite a while before we reached the final.
Falling out already and he's not even bought us yet. Reading the two posts again I see that you are actually agreeing, no scarf over the head. How will we know the sale is official and complete without that world recognised symbolic gesture?
I keep thinking we've had the last ever debate about whether the Allams were really so bad after all, but the takeover keeps dragging on and we keep having just one more. Can't wait for it to go through for multiple reasons, but putting a definitive end to this is certainly one. Fingers crossed I never hear about them again once it's done.
I hate the Allams like others on here but when it's announced they've gone, i'll be sat with a smile on my face and have a gentle nod of the head.
... and maybe to note that FA Cup Final and getting into Europe were not 2 separate achievements. One brought the other. Sort of like a BOGOF. We did have a relatively easy route to the Final, but still, it's an achievement that goes into the record books, along with the BOGOF. And the Final was a great day, other than the sickening inevitable in extra time. By far our greatest achievement was getting into the PL for the first time in our history (and those first few unbelievable months).
He could email all fans and invite them to a meet and greet in the stadium with free food and a few drinks. He could walk around the ground as we ate and drank merrily.
During their tenure, what we achieved on the pitch was way beyond any expectations I had, seeing my team play in The Prem, FA Cup Final, and in The Barclays Asia Trophy in Beijing was all something very special, in fact lifelong memories! Off the pitch they have shot themselves in the foot so many times I've lost count, so thanks and goodbye. To be despised by so many supporters is quite an achievement given their on pitch achievements. As for being good business people, they are at face value, in financial terms we are in a strong position given the problems caused by a pandemic. That said I look at todays balance sheet, and the clubs assets, and their record is nothing short of appalling, all that Prem money down the tubes virtually, and little to show for it! They've created an academy for which they should be congratulated, but equally where's the training facilities owned by the club that would have maybe attracted and developed even better prospects? 5 out of 10 for me. Goodbye The Allams, you really screwed up the opportunity you had in so many ways. You should be celebrated, unfortunately the only celebrations will be when you finally leave, how sad!
I think they'll be forgotten about fairly quickly, how much attention to detail was given to the state the previous incumbents left us in? We were too busy rejoicing new owners squaring off the debt(The Allams). As others have said,it's time to let go. They gave us good and bad, could've been so much more with a packed stadium every game but it wasn't...It'll be history very shortly and we'll see if Acun can satisfy every single one of us.
