Pep Guardiola's men are in fine form. Their 1-0 victory over Wolves was their sixth Premier League win in a row. They have only conceded three goals at home all season, as well as keeping six clean sheets. City will be without Ferran Torres (broken foot), while Ilkay Gundogan Injured his back against Wolves. Joao Cancelo is suspended after reaching five yellow cards, but have a ready-made replacement in Kyle Walker. Phil Foden, Nathan Ake, Kevin De Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez could all return for the hosts Pascal Struijk is rated doubtful for the trip across the Pennines. He was due to start against Chelsea but injured his foot in training the day before. Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper are long term absentee's whilst Robin Koch is recovering from illness. Rodrigo (heel) and Bamford (hamstring) will be assessed on Monday. Joe Gelhardt did his hopes of playing no harm after scoring a minute after taking the field at the weekend.
I think city are due to tonk someone soon. I just hope we can show the fight we had against Chelsea against them.
Start with Gelhardt we need him to gain as much experience as possible, no matter what division we end up in I’d like him to displace Bamford
City muller most teams, but don’t always turn that dominance into goals. It’s important not to concede early as the floodgates can open.. though I guess it’s generally important not to concede early in any game
I would like bamford at 10 instead of rodrigo who does not fit in anywhere. He has good feet and is aware of his team mates around him.
Talk about milking it. £40 for me plus train fare and taxis. https://www.leedsunited.com/news/club/29104/join-us-for-a-leeds-united-christmas-special
This season has been a massive joke in many respects simply because of our small squad and the number of injuries. We have gone from 50% of the first team being out and still have almost 30% of the squad out. When it comes to playing top 6 clubs we are already outgunned in quality of players, and have to rely on Bielsa tactics to reduce the deficit in quality. It worked againstChelsea but we still lost. The one big mistake of Bielsa has been his small squad as the Premier League requires more. I think many teams are struggling with injuries this season and all because of having a reduced pre season and a congested fixture list owing to International competitions in Europe and the World Cup shoehorned in. Other clubs can cope because they have a bigger squad, we cant
Bielsa, with his philosophy of needing players to be able to play at a high standard in at least two positions, probably believes the squad depth is adequate. So maybe the issue is the squad is injury prone rather than small.
Pep Guardiola says Manchester City will 'SUFFER' against Marcelo Bielsa's 'special' Leeds Marcelo Bielsa's side are regarded as one of Man City's 'toughest opponents' Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola believes his team 'will have to suffer' against Leeds on Tuesday night. The Premier League leaders host the Yorkshire side on Tuesday night in a must-win game, as the race for the title already begins to take shape. The former Bayern Munich manager does not think this will be an easy task, and has warned his players about the 'unique way' Marcelo Bielsa's side play. Speaking ahead of the game, Guardiola said: 'Leeds are one of our toughest opponents. 'They play in a special unique way and we play against this special unique way just two times a year. 'We have to adjust a few things because they are different to other opponents. We are not much used to these type of games. We know we will have to suffer.' After returning to top-flight football for the first time in sixteen years, Bielsa's side took four points from a possible six in their encounters with City last season.
Forza I just dont get the injury prone line mate. Rodrigo and Cooper maybe but even Koch has never suffered like this. Struijk never really injured before, Phillips usually straight back after a game out, Bamford and hiss knee was 3 seasons ago and been an ever present since.
But a good manager has to cover as many eventualities as possible, the question Bielsa should have asked himself is, “what if”
Let’s just hope for a good clean fight and no controversial decisions that being the case if we lose so be it
Nothing to worry about 2p. We should be accustomed now to having to play with one hand tied behind our backs against the big boys.
Our bench has 8 U23s and Klich Our team tonight has 6 square pegs in round holes No Bamford, no Cooper, no Struijk, no Rodrigo and no Koch, that would be 4 internationals missing
