I didn't say that it was the end of the world.
It's often impossible to infer intent from someone's comment on an internet forum though, so it's best to avoid posting anything that can be seen as a homophobic, racist or anti-Semitic comment.

South Park are indiscriminate in their discrimination, if you know what I mean, so I don't find it offensive.

There's another cross board thread with Spurs?! Sigh.

  3. For the record, I'm not Jewish, but I am happy to support a club that has a strong connection with the Jewish community in North London. I grew up in Tottenham, went to school here, and still live nearby. This is my club, and I support it because it's been a central part of my community for a very long time. My fandom is blind to race.

I don't want to get involved in the argument here but would like to make an observation.
Prejudice isn't really about name-calling, it's about believing someone to be actually inferior to you due to their ethnic or religious background etc.,and being prepared to treat them in an unfair or inhumane way.
If a mate calls me an insulting name I don't take offence because I know he doesn't mean it, and I'd just call him one back.
In an ideal world offence should only be taken where offence is intended. Unfortunately, when someone writes something on a forum it's not always easy to know whether it is serious or just banter. On our own threads we build up a relationship with others where we usually know if something is just banter or not, that's not always the case on multi-board threads so it's easy for misunderstandings to occur.
I suppose the safest thing is to avoid making statements which could be seen as inflammatory unless you know the target is ok with it.

I couldn't care less what the media says, as long as we keep on doing well.

I have never heard someone use the phrase 'Stop being Jewish' in my life.

PleaseNotPoll, if the phrase is meant as a way of saying something is bad, then please, shut the **** up and get on with the topic in hand.

You haven't been tested until you play Barca ;)

I've never heard it used that way either, only as a way of calling someone stingy.

Surely you didn't just say that you use "Jewish" as a synonim for being an idiot, did you ?

It looks like you did, but I can't quite beleive it

Most pundits tend to be former Liverpool players, which is why I tend to ignore them at the moment - at least until the wheels fall off their season, which they will, and Kenny Dalglish gets admitted to a psychiatric facility soon after...

Well another fantastic win for us, I think you'll find we're favourites for 4th place with the bookies by tomorrow morning <ok>

If not, we should be, as we're playing superbly and have beaten both Pool and Arsenal and drawn at SJP. COYS.

Newcastle fans are extremely noisy over their decent start to the season. I'm not sure why you think there's some kind of rivalry with us, perhaps as we signed a couple of your players. An article saying we've had similar fixtures doesn't make much sense especially when even newcastle's tougher games against Arsenal and Spurs have both been at home whereas ours were away, and you haven't even played Stoke away yet, one of the toughest fixtures around.

There's nothing to suggest our 'wheels will come off', even the 2 games we just drew we should have won, and those of you that cheered so many Andy Carroll goals surely know deep down that he will eventually be a great player to have in our squad. Nobody else is getting excited because even the likes of Hull city have had similar starts to the season then faded. I wish you the best but in the mean time your club's results mean nothing to me, you don't even register as competition or rivals. The only reason i felt the need to comment is that we get quite a lot of mouthy geordies on our own board and again this thread has popped up. Sorry boys, but nobody is really paying you much attention.

  17. I know it's been dragged up the M6 and back again, but Lucaaaaaas seriously mate. Just f'ing well apologise like a man and we can all move on. The size of the hole you've dug yourself is quite unbelievable. Oh, and don't bother using terms like that on a cross-board thread which will inevitably include lots of people who you don't know from adam and therefore do not have some divine-given right to decide whether or not said inflammatory phrase is appropriate or offensive. And as for the argument about calling your TV remote 'gay'. Get a grip mate...a TV remote doesn't have feelings.

I'm Jewish myself, and what has peed me off more than your original comment (which personally was water off a duck's back) has been the arrogance with which you've dealt with the fallout. Apologise. Admit mistake. Move on.

No you are wrong. If you actually read it, we are comparing our starts and just saying that we have no had it as easy as certain people would suggest but our start has been comparable to Liverpools and Tottenhams. No toon fan thinks we will be battling it out for the top 4! Top 8 possibly. The fact that this needs explaining is worrying!
