Six COVID-19 vaccines are safe and boost immunity for people who have had two doses of AstraZeneca or Pfizer-BioNTech, results from the UK-wide COV-BOOST trial show. The world-first study was key to shaping the UK booster programme and gives vital evidence for global vaccination efforts. The study, led by University Hospital Southampton, has had its latest results published in the Lancet. https://www.nihr.ac.uk/news/nihr-supported-study-publishes-covid-19-booster-data/29454
Scotland’s health secretary is warning that new measures to slow the spread of Covid will be announced on Tuesday. Humza Yousaf says the "sheer weight" of the number of Omicron cases could overwhelm the NHS, so precautions will have to be taken. Yousaf says it is "inevitable" that "additional protective measures" will be announced by the first minister when she addresses MSPs tomorrow. But speaking on BBC Radio Scotland, he refuses to be drawn on what those restrictions might be. from the bbc
The sheer weight of 3,000 odd cases of Omicrom and 10 of those in hospital so far. Meanwhile daily cases of the standard version remain at 50,000 plus and 150ish daily deaths, which was ok enough to relax restrictions. Odd indeed
First omni death http://news.sky.com/story/covid-19-...itive-for-omicron-boris-johnson-says-12494875COVID-19: At least one patient has died after testing positive for Omicron, Boris Johnson says
It's a fairly inconclusive statement. Died with it or of it? Vaccinated once, twice, 3 times or not at all? Underlying conditions?
It is being reported as died 'with', no other info probably due to medical confidentialty. All part of the SPI-B 's plan to push/shove the booster narrative.
You get that breakdown with any other covid death so why would you expect it on this one individual case??
More on Boris Johnson refusing three times to rule out more restrictions this side of Christmas As we mentioned in our previous post, the prime minister has refused to rule out more coronavirus restrictions being enforced before Christmas. Asked repeatedly by reporters if he would rule out more measures this side of Christmas, he said: "Throughout the pandemic I've been at great pains to stress to the public that we have to watch where the pandemic is going and we take whatever steps are necessary to protect public health," he told reporters. "We think the steps that we are taking - so Plan B, combined with a hugely ambitious acceleration of the booster campaign, bringing it forward by a month so we offer a booster to every adult by the end of the year - we think that's the right approach."
Absolutely nothing unusual about these clowns going one step further, they've done it constantly throughout the pandemic!! More money to Krankie from Westminster.
For what its worth, the latest data on COVID hospitalizations from The Government's ONS site. As of last Thursday (the most recent date for which the data is published), there were 7413 people in hospital with COVID. That is 2000 less than there were at the end of October, and 19% of the number at the height of the 2nd wave in January (just under 40000). While the numbers of cases are quite high, the percentage requiring hospital treatment is decreasing. The government, and the press, are blowing the current situation out of proportion. And they don't know how to pronounce "omicron".
