This is good news surely, gives us a chance to get a few back from injury. So long as it’s not rescheduled during AFCON.
Hope the club are going to repay me for my non refundable train tickets. Thankfully I can rebook the hotel.
Depends on the after affects of having it, you don't suddenly feel better. Alot of people have long covid and have no energy after having it for ages !
AFCON is being held in Cameroon, where there is currently a civil war underway, a cholera outbreak…..and COVID. Kind of hoping at the least for a change of venue, preferably a postponement of the whole thing…..
Apparently it should be rescheduled for first available time...which would be in January. Hope African cup doesn't go ahead at all
I couldnt watch the game live as normal anyway as I have to drive the Misses to a Pfizer jab place early Tuesday morning and the game was on at 2.45 am the night before. So good news for me, but not for the players, the Club or all who had booked travel to Sheffield. Swansea game myst be in doubt too. We will be royally f*****, if these games have to be played during Afcon.
Does anyone know the precise rules regarding postponing games for COVID? Will the players be available by next Saturday?
As said above, any players that have rested positive will have a further test. If that is positive too, then they have to self isolate for 10 days so would 100% be unavailable for Swansea game should it go ahead !
If we don't play Saturday against Swans the worst we can be is 6th as Stoke in 6th are playing Coventry who are 7th........
Hopeully we don't get to a situation similar to Rotherham last season with a game every two or thre days to catxh up.
It will be rife amongst all.clubs by January, just hope EFL are sensible with it. We are deservedly in a play off position, so just hope whatever decisions are made we remain there. It's going to get messy though...
Trouble is English football pandering to FiFA and condensing the season to play an easy World Cup in an undeserving Country, and The AFCON put into a timescale that badly affects clubs. With a pandemic like this where there are going to be different variants every few months, it all should of been looked at and altered. The EPL and the EFL have backed themselves into a corner, and if things escalate with the pandemic it's going to get stupid trying to fit so many games into a condensed timescale. But hey as long as Qatar get their pound of flesh, who cares about how many people will suffer !
4 players positive, 2 showing symptoms (o/n.) Another 10 in isolation including unvaccinated players (!!??) Plus injuries = not enough players Warburton on talk sport. If it is symptoms o/n...then no Swansea on Saturday
Is it bad that I'm actually quite pleased by all this? If Swansea is off as well it will mean it's at least a fortnight until our next game. That's an excellent mid-season opportunity to let the players have a well-earned Christmas break and get at least some of the sick list back in action. Every cloud...
