It was horrible. Thats the second motorcycle death i've seen now, after Tomizawa last season in the moto2.
i do, but i doubt his family will, and I'm sure they wanted to spend many more years with him, rather than see him"die what he loved doing", Senna's father has always been ridden with guilt on having introduced him to the sport after he died
No one forces them. Those that participate in motorsports, at any level, do so with the knowledge that the worst can happen.
that's very true, the ultimate responsibility is theirs. But surely people patronize them; particularly the bosses at the top who're running the show and the governments that are allowing this
RIP Marco Simoncelli. He was a great rider, and an even greater character. His smiling face and bouncing afro with be sorely missed!!
RIP Marco, racing can be so cruel at times. Also, was he unconscious before the other drivers hit him, he was dangling off his bike beforehand. I feel for him family.
What an utterly devastating thing. My sincerest condolences to the family of Marco Simoncelli. I am sure your boy is in the place you would hope for. He was living life to its fullest, and that is surely more than most can ever hope for. RIP Marco.
Do you know Sgt, I dont know how, but we did, I followed F1 from mid 60s attended my first F1 race in 72 and a driver died at that event, I cannot explain the attraction of F1, it is simply magnetic, and applaud the modern "safe" format, which I enjoy so much. The drivers died doing something they loved and dreamed of doing, doing something the rest of us can only dream of, thats the only way I come to terms with the deaths, the rewards are high as are the consequences, remember the drivers have made the choice to participate.
RIP Marco Simoncelli, what an amazing rider he was, and potentially the next great Italian rider. His personality was as fantastic as his hair and his racing. It just goes to show that you can never make motorsport totally safe, and I think it definitely makes motor bike racing the most dangerous of the lot, cause you can't stop freak accident like these happening. It wasnt a particularly fast corner either, its quite fast in F1, and they go round this track about 30 seconds quicker than the bikes do. Am I the only one that's slightly worried about the Indian GP next weekend?
Two deaths within a week, Its strange to see one death at this high level of Motorsport, but two is extraordinary. I just hope theres isnt too much knee jerk reaction.
Did anybody see the Dan Wheldon memorial from Indy today? It was sad... but some side splitting anecdotes too.
I am a bit worried. These two guys who died were brilliant at their respective sports, so there are some worries creeping in that something bad will happen. I'm not superstitious, but these things usually happen in 3's.
