    Swansea City v Nottingham Forest

    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Venue - Swansea.com stadium
    Date - 11 December 2021
    Kick off - 3pm

Following their disappointing 0-1 defeat away at Middlesbrough, next up for Russell Martin’s Swansea squad is a home match against his predecessor’s new team, Nottingham Forest.

Last Saturday, Isaiah Jones' first goal of the season gave Middlesbrough victory against an out-of-sorts Swansea City.

After an uneventful first 25 minutes, the game came to life when Jones beat the offside trap to break clear and calmly beat Ben Hamer to open the scoring.

Just before half time Jamie Paterson broke clear of the Boro defence, went down in the area, and despite strong appeals from Swansea players, referee Andy Davies instead booked Paterson for simulation. The Swans have still not been awarded a penalty in the Championship this season …..

In truth, the Swans rarely threatened in the first half but were much improved after the break, and Joel Piroe thought he had drawn them level only to see Paddy McNair clear his shot off the line.

The victory moved Chris Wilder's Boro above Swansea and up to ninth in the Championship, while back-to-back defeats for the first time this season sees the Swans drop to 14th.

Whilst the Swans were losing at the Riverside, James Garner scored and set up another as Steve Cooper's Nottingham Forest handed Peterborough their 10th away defeat of the season.

The Manchester United loanee turned in Brennan Johnson's cross from close range to break the deadlock 18 minutes from time.

Ryan Yates then converted Garner's corner from close range to make sure of the points.

Siriki Dembele almost put Posh in front early in the second half when his left-foot shot hit the post, but the visitors' goalless run extended to five matches.

The win moved Forest up to 13th in the Championship, 1 point and 1 place above Swansea.

The Swans have played Forest on 68 previous occasions, with each team winning 26 matches and with 16 drawn.

Without doubt the most memorable match between the sides was the Championship Play Off semi final at the Liberty in May 2011 when the Swans ran out 3-1 winners:

Turning to Saturday, both teams and both Managers will be desperate to run out winners: Russell Martin will want to stop the rot and not record a 3rd successive defeat, whilst Steve Cooper will want to get one over his previous employers.

I’m hoping for a 2-0 win for the Swans - but I think that it will end 1–1. <cheers>

Thanks Taff. I expect Forest will be determined to take something away from this game for various reasons. They will be tough to break down, so it could well be another game where we monopolise possession but fail to create too many clear chances. If we don't make silly defensive mistakes I can see us nicking this 1-0 but wouldn't be at all surprised to see it ending 0-0.

I think Cooper's going to have the edge in this one, unfortunately. We just can't score a goal at the moment and they might let us keep possession, as we do, and hit us with the sucker punch. This could well be a low(non) scoring draw.

Well, he did get The Swans' to consecutive Championship play offs, so he really doesn't have much, if anything, to prove.

In addition, he seems to have transformed Forest.

Too much sour grapes regarding Cooper. He deserves better. I wouldn't be surprised if he puts one over on his former Club.

And you won what, exactly ? Enlighten us.

It's people like you who embarrass the Club, always complaining, always insulting, always being free with advice, yet having little concrete to say.

Stick to reminiscing about buying boots from defunct shops. That's YOUR contribution, and no blah, blah about it. <laugh>

There we are then .I don't think this tread is about what I have ,haven't nor ever will win . Your problem is any slight criticism of your love child is taken so painfully to heart its quite touching .I'm sure one day Cooper will be finally able to sit down when he gets around to extraditing your tongue from his arse .
