Sad day, seen the accident and I never watched Dan race but everywhere I read or listen people say he was a great talent. R.I.P
If anybody wants to watch the Sky Sports tribute to Dan, It's been uploaded to Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7iaRzSALnI
Maybe best not to. His helmet fell off and he was crushed by another bike, thankfully nobody else was seriously hurt.
Saw the accident live, just been bawling my eyes out for the last 20-odd minutes. RIP Marco He was just an incredible character, absolutely amazing...
Just saw it.. wish I hadn't. I'm really sorry for all the bike fans out there... I'm really not a regular Moto GP fan, my Mrs loves watching the bikes... That's horrible. I don't know what to say... I honestly knew nothing about him but that was appalling to watch and even more heart breaking after the death of Dan Wheldon last weekend. I'm lost for words.
It doesn't really matter how much we know/knew about drivers and riders, any death is always sad. Two very quick reminders about the dangers involved in the sport we love.
As fans we get very complacent and take these people for granted... My wife has been fretting about the race at Talladega tomorrow... not sure I wanna know anything about it. RIP Marco...
I've just seen the crash, truly horrific. RIP Marco Simoncelli. Another terrible waste of life. This needs to be used to draw the focus back to safety in motorsport, and if helmets can come off like that, then I feel they need immediate attention to stop that happening. What mustn't happen is the Indy guys see this incident, with no real extraneous factors, and conclude that Dan Wheldon's was a freak accident too, and changes in Indy are unnecessary. That would be disastrous.
