True I expect the same side because shelvey has managed to carry a false reputation as being good at corners for years. There's no pace on them and they're just floated in and easy to defend against. Fraser as much as I think he's crap off the ball can deliver a proper corner

Shelvey's freekicks at defenders in goal are even worse

I think we should be looking at this game as winnable. Sounds a bit mental given the respective recent history of the two clubs, but I genuinely think we are catching them at a decent time.

Remember the good old days when we used to float every set piece pointlessly at Mike Williamson? Shelvey would have been ideal in that team

Has he ever taken a free kick at a defender in goal or does he just loft them towards the corner flag?

Set pieces have been sickening for a while. Remember the days of Robert, Solano, and Shearer. Bobby knew the score.

Yeah he did along with Andros. I had a look back at that season and obviously the other two in Jan were crap, Saivet and Doumbia. But if you took Shelvey and Townsend, plus the four who arrived in the summer, I was kinda left thinking "****ing hell Schteve was a really **** manager!"

Georginio Wijnaldum, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Chancel Mbemba and Florian Thauvin.

The **** had about 75m spent for him to add to the existing side and still got relegated. I'm not saying all 6 players were world beaters but I don't think they were so bad we should have got relegated.

Spoilt for choice. Solano on the left, Robert right, and Shearer for the hammer

Both Solano and Robert could chip in with a descent tally of goals of their own
never forget the Tottenham Two from Robert

I'm sure Robert won goal of the month with one and second with the other

I celebrated last night and nearly ripped my stitches from my operation.

That was a good result for us. If we can get an unlikely win against Leicester. We are not that far away.

And I’ve been thinking about these games over Christmas. Teams have that many games to play they will be resting players. Which may or may not help us.

There are always bizarre results around this time of year.

It's a bad sign when our fans think we can win.

I think Leicesters covid means Rodgers is fielding a stronger side vs napoli. OK they lost 3-2, but Napoli are better than us that's for sure.

I think we'll get beat on Sunday

That was very handy for us. Looking at it this could be a 4 way fight between us Burnley, Watford and Norwich. That's a fight we can win. Particularly if we can take anything at all out of the likes of Leicester, Man C, Man U where we are expected to get tanned.

Fine margins this year. We've only lost one more game than Wolves, Arsenal, Leicester and Brentford. Lost less times than Villa. So'ton aren't out of it, Leeds will also be hovering around there.

Some of those I don't see getting dragged in. Maybe Brentford but they seem to be doing enough. Maybe Southampton. They do look vulnerable. I see those three I mentioned as our most likely targets if you like. A long way to go and a lot can happen though.

Didn't mean those bigger names would get dragged in - point was it's a competitive league below 4th and anyone can beat anyone. So'ton are vulnerable, as are Leeds. Don't think Brentford and Brighton can breathe too easy yet.
