I’ve worked hard all life doing two jobs at around 60 hours a week. I’ve paid off my mortgage at 41. I’ve hardly stopped and feel like I’ve earned a new but better car. I’ve never paid over 14k for a car. Always bought them. So I’ve got no debt at all bar my phone contract. I don’t spend much. I like football and have sky sports. I rarely go out and have a bottle of wine every Friday Saturday and Sunday night. That’s it. That’s my life. I’m scared to go to the dark side (pcp) and I’m scared to own/have a car over £20k but I’ve never had anything over the top in life. Some people at mid life crisis have affairs, so prostitutes, drugs, motorbikes etc. I don’t do anything. Some close friends died this year and they where similar to me. One said what’s the point of having money in the bank when you have a **** car and you don’t do anything.
Ha ha. I’m no torie. And my daddy’s has given me nothing in life. He was a proper grafter worked in a factory all his life. I will probably end up with a car paying around £300 a month. I can’t justify £600 buy I could afford it. But everyone is different. I don’t have my season ticket anymore. Got rid of it 4 years ago (kids) buy Might get it back now. I’ve always had very average cars. I want something a bit more.
It'll make you feel good for a few months then it's the same old thing. Each to their own, but I'd but a crosser or something and go travelling
I need a car that’s reliable and big enough for the fam. I have no choice really I have to get something. But I think electric may be the way forward reading some of the articles and peoples comments.
GG I’m not, sincerely, questioning anyone’s rights to spend money or do what makes them happy - I’m just jealous. I went back to square one financially from divorce ten years ago… it’s just the way life goes. Plus I’m not a go-getter. mortgage-free - well done and that must be heaven!!
Easy enough these days I'm just saying these guys all driving range rovers have less money than the guys driving a decent enough SUV If you're super rich It's fine but otherwise you're just a ****er imo
GG has set me off looking at options for my missus now. I bought her a Seat Ibiza 1.9TDI in 2009 brand new (had a ridiculous win on the horses at the time and thought I better invest in something useful). She has really looked after it. They are basically just a V dub in a different shell so no surprises that its been bulletproof. Its hardly cost anything bar tyres and brake pads. She is only tootling about the doors. So now I'm thinking I trade that in and get her something new. Its her 40th soon. Any ideas on options on little hatches like that? I don't know enough about Kia's, Dacia's etc but you seem to get a bit for your money with them. I mean she has just took a little job with Hermes to get some spends, maybe I'll buy her a van so she can get more parcels in - more parcels more money #slavedriving
Oh I know mate my comment wasn’t meant to cause offence. But yes you could say I’m at “that” point in life. Where I’ve worked my bollocks all life and what do I have to show for it. I have had a pretty crap year. Two operations. Friends and family passing away. I’m just looking at things differently right now. Im also losing my hair.
Oh and sorry for the divorce part mate I guess that can have a sucker punch and thankfully I’ve not had that yet. However if I’m not careful (I’m angry at the moment no idea why. Boredom) my life might go down that route because im becoming an old fart.
Ha ha I do agree with that mate. And some of my friend circle are exactly that person. One lives with his parents (he’s 41) and has a Range Rover. No money in the bank and is always scraping the barrel mid month.
Hair loss is resolvable these days. Probs about 3k for a top transplant where they move it and it works Why do you think the likes of Rooneys hair grew back or even that proper bald **** judge of dancing on ice... Only poor people and people that don't care are bald these days
Get this - you didn’t cause offence, I just wanted to make sure I hadn’t! we could probably both from a bit more Roy-dna in us … then we’d save time and stress in life
Sorry about my influence. But it does sound like the car you choose was the right one. That is what I usually do. Buy a solid car and keep them for 10 years. Basically free motoring provided you service them and look after them. Im just getting old and boring. I need something. To give me that “fix”!
So if he pulls a winner based on his car he then loses the interest immediately when he tells her he hasn't got a home and no money for holidays
That’s cool. I over think everything. It’s both the reason why I’m good at what I do. And the reason I don’t sleep at night. Anxiety is a bastard. And that’s why I drink the Vino on the weekends. But maybe a car fixes that.
He’s single. Go figure eh. He hasn’t been with anyone in years just lots of one night stands and hotels and London. Each to their own I guess. He’s just living his life and one day I will get the phone call and he will be gone. It’s just the way he lives his life. The polar opposite to my life now. Having said that even when I’ve not seen him in months even years and we get together it kinda takes me out of my lifestyle and into his. It’s mental and I can only do it for a day or two.
