Boris Johnson confirmed earlier this week that his winter Plan B will soon be enforced in England, with new mask rules coming into force today. From Monday, people will be encouraged to work from home, and from Wednesday the NHS COVID Pass will be required for entry to certain venues. Despite this, suggestions have emerged that further restrictions are already being considered by Downing Street. Sky's political editor Beth Rigby says rumours of a "Plan B Plus" have emerged, with suggestions these could be introduced in January. The Mail claims ministers are drawing up proposals for further restrictions in the new year if the Omicron variant takes hold. According to the newspaper, these would include: "Having to 'check in' with the NHS COVID app again to go to a pub or restaurant, using face masks in all indoor spaces, and having to show a vaccine passport at even more venues." The upcoming Plan B measures will be reviewed on 5 January, before their expiry date of 26 January.
Boris has obviously discussed Plan B with Mr McCann who now realises that a Plan B is a necessary thing (even though like a party he will tell you there actually never was a Plan B), and really doesn't know how to implement it...
The next review is over three weeks away, by then it's likely that we'll have confirmation that the new variant isn't so severe and these things won't be necessary. Though the significant amount of people who still refuse to get vaccinated and are currently cluttering up hospital beds unnecessarily, could still **** the job up.

UK has about 80% of adults double vaccinated and yet Omicron could cause chaos according to the experts, South Africa which has less than 30% vaccinated seems to be carrying on as normal. 80% is getting near to the national average for take up of the MMR and Polio jabs (about 90%) when will we need to show a passport for MMR and Polio?
Two days ago South Africa were saying that it seemed like a milder variant and they'd seen little increase in hospitalisations, today they announced a 200% increase in hospitalisations, they might not be carrying on as normal much longer.
