What a way to get out Hameed, looking so good too. Stark spraying it all over the place and Hameed gets a tiny touch down the leg side through to the keeper. 61-2. Just as we were starting to apply a bit of pressure on them. Sigh

Tea 107-2. Malan 35* Root 26*. Nice partnership building, Malan riding his luck and playing and missing alot. Root looks in really good touch and is taking the game to them at least. If they can make it to the close with only losing 1 more then you never know, Root needs to get a monster score with support from everyone else

I’ve just got up and the scoreboard is looking a lot better than 24 hours ago, I may treat myself to the highlights later.

Sunshine & England can bat well so it made no sense with eng batting first in those conditions, scores could easily been reversed, score looks more healthy now

Bit of pride restored, but a long way to go.

Bat all day tomorrow, Leach takes 8 wickets on final day, Root a hero.

Fully expected to wake up this morning to find that the Aussies had racked up 500 and then bowled England out for 150.........

A pleasant surprise to find that hadn't happened, well played Malan & Skip...... Now if we can bat 3 sessions tomorrow and set them 300 on a fifth day pitch it could be interesting......

    Just watched the highlights.
    Well done England.
    A good fight back.

Rode their luck at times, but no more so than the Aussies in their innings.
Good to show some fight, but still a long way to go.

    A few observations:
    Malan is a proper batsman.
Great to see Root in form.
    If only we'd bowled first.
Lovely to see that weasel **** Lyon getting no luck as he strives for that 400th wicket (good bowler, but a complete twat).
What the **** was that weather forecast all about?
Dry, hot and sunny last two days. Seems their weather forecasters are about as useless as ours!

Obviously being England, I'm expecting a collapse tomorrow leaving the Aussies a low target to win.
But how lovely would it be for us to go on and get around 450 to make a game of it?
Of course, not having a decent spinner means Leach won't win it for us.

The ball that Burns got from Cummins was something else.

    Unplayable.
Hameed, although I'm not convinced he's good enough, was desperately unlucky to be strangled down the leg side too.

First session will probably decide the outcome of this test, new ball is due in 10 overs time. If we can get to lunch without losing more than 1 wicket , then we can hopefully set me them 220 plus to win. With pressure on and hopefully some cracks appearing on the last day , anything is possible ! Come on the poms

Ffs Malan caught silly mid off to give Lyon his 400th test victim. Gifted them that wicket. Poor. Root and Stokes need to put on a biggy
