well continuing the trend of making threads about individual players, what does everyone think of chaplow's performances recently. Personally, i feel he's been a real force and has recaptured the form when he first came on loan, long may it continue
Agreed, a real box to box midfieler who one minute is making a deft run into the box and the next crashing into a last ditch tackle in his own box! Class
What worries me more is the loss of form by Fonte and Cork who are key parts of the spine of our team. After yesterday I can only assume Fonte is carying an injury but Cork did not inpose himself on the game.
Chaplow is a good player and bargain of the century. He may not get as many starts as he would like, but will play an important part in our push for promotion.
Back to his best, he was everywhere yesterday. When he joined he played like this, but towards the end of last season he got burnt out. But now he has returned. His energy and drive are great assets.
Whilst Sky were right to highlight last night what a steal Le Fondre was at 350k, he was still seven times the price of Chaplow!
Agreed. I thought Chaplow was everywhere last night and if picked, you know he will give it all he has got.
Chaplow is awesome! His energy is ridiculous and I'm sure it lifts the whole team. When he plays, he is usually one of our best players, if not the best. I think Adkins will have a bit of a dilemma when Lallana is fit. Should we be starting with chappers in the centre instead of cork/morgan/deano??
With Hammond suspended and such a low key performance by Cork I think Chaplow and Morgan in the centre should freshen things up.
i should imagine we will probably start the next game with the same people, with schneiderlin coming in for hammond, unless lallana is back, in which case i think cork will be dropped back to the bench with schneiderlin and chaplow in the middle.
I'm not worried by Cork's form as that is why we have Chaplow, Hammond, Lallana, Morgan, Holmes etc, etc. It's called a squad and Mr Adkins keeps saying it's not about the 11. One goes through an iffy spell then someone else comes in and does a job. With Fonte I may be a little more concerned, however Martin did well when he came on and hopefully that can continue. If it does, I'll have no worries. The big test would be if we had to play without Rickie, as even if he is a little off form, he still holds it up well and is a good target... not Connolly's game that.
Considering we're supposed to have strength in depth, it's been noted that we've played fewer players than any other Championship team. Fine as long as everyone's fit, but it's a long season. I know top sides have a team that picks its self, but still be happier if we sign a couple of good players in January (a striker and CB, if we don't keep Jos).
think we would have played more if the likes of jaidi and barnard were fit. plus we've made a lot of changes for the carling cup.
