  1. I would have thought that the Mickey Mousers, above all fans, would have been particularly sensitive about racism, given the fact that Suarez has been proven a racist.

Let's stamp this thing out of football, eh, lads <ok>

In what way was that expression relevant to what he said?

The expressions are anti-Semitic and homophobic, anyway.
They literally have no meaning if they're not.

If someone says "Stop being gay", you do know that it isn't meant in a literal sense, don't you?

I thought to be proven guilty of something there had to be proof, correct me if I'm wrong. There's isn't even one shred of evidence to Evras claim, not even a teammate ffs!

Yes the expressions are, but their meaning have been so diluted that they're thrown around regularly (I'm not saying that they should be). To call someone who uses them a homophobe or anti-semite is a bit OTT and you know that.

  7. To call someone "gay" is homophobic, because it is using the state of being "gay" as an insult.

To accuse someone of being "Jewish" is to imbue the state of being "Jewish" as something bad, and is racist.

Please don't try to defend your abhorrent attitudes; simply apologise and make a personal vow to reform your thinking.

I use it to mean the same thing as stop being gay. Basically stop being an idiot. Didn't think Jews would get offended by it, maybe I'm wrong.

I can change it to gay if you want, I'm really not bothered.

    Here is my revised post:

Jesus christ, stop being so gay.

Not to get all technical here but Judaism isn't a race. A black or chinese guy could be jewish if he wished.

You can be Jewish by either race or religion.
It's possible to be ethnically Jewish.
You could be a Christian Jew, strangely.

Interesting. Now we just need to figure out which sense Lucaaas was referring to and we can figure out whether he is a racist or just hates religion!

Nah, it's ok, he's just being homophobic now, instead.

    FINE!

    Stop being so Cockney.

Genuine question now, have you never said something like "The TV remote's being gay" etc. Because mostly everyone I know uses the gay word in that sense, none of them (I don't think) are homophobic. Words evolve, gay meant happy before, now it means stupid/annoying to most people aswell as referring to homosexuals (is that word PC enough for you or is it offensive?)

Calling Spurs fans cockneys is like calling Scousers Mancs.
    You missed.

Do you really fail to see the connection between using the word gay as an pejorative term and it being homophobic?
Why do you think that calling something gay is an insult?

I don't fail to see the connection, I just don't understand why someone would make it. The word gay is now used in everyday life to portray your annoyance at something or someone, if everyone that used it was homophobic then you're basically labelling a whole generation of people as homophobes, which is just ridiculous.

Its like labelling your grandparents or parents (depending on your age) homophobic for telling you that you look so gay, when in fact they mean you look happy. Words evolve with time, you really need to get over it!

I must say I wasn't trying to offend anybody with my Jewish thing, so I'll take that back, but I won't apologise because it wasn't malicious in any way, shape or form.

Using the word gay in a negative context simply is homophobic, whether you choose to believe it or not.
The fact that you think Jewish is a similar derogatory word just highlights your ignorance, frankly.

Weirdly, this exact discussion was on our board earlier in the week. I have a gay friend who uses the word 'gay' off the cuff to mean 'bad', such as:

"Shame your landlord is upping the rent next month"
    "Yeah, it's gay."

It's just become a word that people use now, picked up and carried on from high school with little relation to its actual meaning. Obviously not the case with 'Jewish' but, come on, do you sit there appalled beyond words whenever South Park is on? It's not the end of the world.
