I am getting on with my life, I've been working constantly on site and doing things like normal. But at the same time I've been doing things to try and help stop it spreading further than it needs to. It'd be nice for others to do the same. But I'm the sensitive one, not the people who've been asked to do a few extra things to help and rant and rave about it.
Not at all. But to be honest I've been in my own personal lockdown for years, these official ones have barely made any difference to me.
He's changed his mind after more research made him realise he was wrong: You can do the same: https://www.popsci.com/science/wet-masks-covid-protection/ https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...r-social-distancing-scenario-study-finds.html https://fullfact.org/online/other-peoples-facemasks/
How effective?? 20% effective was a figure I read in a BMJ article. so in other news 80% ineffective, in any other application, PPE that only has a 20% success rate wouldn’t make it onto the shelf’s……
I don't know but if thats true and I infect 20% fewer people that I walk past and I have Covid, I'd wear one.
This is the general principle of masks - absolute numbers will vary but use a properly fitting disposable or a clean double layer tight woven cotton or an N95 type mask, and not one with a bloody valve (!). Or a face shield if you can't manage a mask. It's just basic manners.
read it for yourself….53% on a larger study, still not enough to make the “effectiveness” threshold https://www.bmj.com/content/375/bmj-2021-068302 washing hands, distance & your natural immune system is all you need in general public environment. If you know that you going to be present with covid positive people. Don’t go
You honestly don't think a 53% reduction is worth pursuing? The number of cases that could cut would be significant for the NHS both in terms of Covid related cases and trying to get through the backlog of other illnesses, as staff wouldn't be concentrated elsewhere. Its not possible to 'just not go' to somewhere if you think there could be people with Covid as that could be literally anywhere: 'A CDC model suggests that 59% of all transmission of the virus came from asymptomatic transmission, with 35% of those from presymptomatic individuals and 25% from those who never develop symptoms.' 'Harvard Health writes on its website here that a person infected with COVID-19 may be contagious 48 hours before starting to experience symptoms. It also suggests that those without symptoms may be more likely to spread the virus as they are less likely to be isolating.' : https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-asymptomatic-masks-idUSL2N2L31SL
No. Would you get into a car where your protection systems ie brakes or airbags would only protect you 53% of the time. Would you fook
A weird argument, but I'll go on. So, your choice between 53% protection and no protection would be no protection?
It’s not effective protection if it only happens 50% of the time…. Personally - I’d go with no mask, I’m double vacc, in good health. The masks offer me nothing I need. I take regular tests, if I’m positive I stay in. Simples.
No they don't. They offer others something they may need. I find LFTs much more faffy than a mask (although I do both in case of a false negative)
Are you double jabbed? have you had covid? what’s your chances of catching covid going out as a %? Is it worth it? If there’s a 20% chance shouldn’t you stay in ?
How??? I’m tested twice a week. I’m a zero risk with or without a mask. At the end of the day, it’s a personal choice, it you want to believe that little bit of cloth is giving you a significant level of protection, go ahead, but you are deluding yourself. Enjoy your evening, I have Italian food & wine to enjoy xx
I have absolutely no idea, but the chances are higher if there are more cases. We’ve already had proof that ‘a simple piece of cloth’ as people put it reduce risk of transmission by 50% so whilst yes it is personal choice, I think the polite choice is to reduce the risk by 50%
