I've posted that on the music thread - trust me, live they are exceptional, one of the best live experiences I've been at in 35 years of gigging - seen them twice, and again next year

This morning finds me in the very unfortunate position of being at Watford General Hospital.

If this shockingly filthy, disorganised hell-hole of incompetence is a reflection of the state of the NHS, it should be a national embarrassment and nothing to be proud of.

One of my staff has returned to Pakistan for medical issues as she says their healthcare is far superior. I genuinely thought she was joking but quite clearly not.

I have just tried to post some pictures of the piles of used face masks dumped and the grimy filth of this place, but it won’t upload so you spared.

Excellent video biography of MR James, the great ghost story writer, by Mark Gatiss, on BBC4. Several of James’ stories have been filmed, not least by Gatiss himself. There is a new one, one of my favourites, on the telly over Christmas, called the Mezzotint. I won’t give details.

Some of the attempts to film the stories are very good, but none are as good as reading them, preferably in an atmospherically lit room with a glass of port.

Yeah I've seen that Gatiss documentary before, very good. Watched a couple of the dramatisations that have been on over the last few Christmas' , some have been better than others.

Enjoyed that. Not sure I've ever read any James, but I used to read a lot of Algernon Blackwood's horror stuff when I was young. I wasn't aware of any his stories having been filmed, but found his on Wiki....

    Tales of Mystery - Wikipedia

I'd have been too young to see these first time round, but I'd be curious to see them now..

    Norsemen on Netflix.

A Norwegian written and produced parody of Vikings which is very funny. I thought the joke would wear thin quite quickly, but it has some staying power.

Is that a new season come out, or are you watching from scratch? Think I've seen two seasons of it

It is good and many of the same actors are in the series Lillehammer too. Series 3 is a prequel and will have you wondering if you watched them in the wrong order.

I very rarely watch anything all the way through Ubes. The Norsemen stuff I’ve seen about 15 minutes of in total, liked it but not enough to sit down and watch it, or there was other stuff to do. I watched the biography of MR James properly, some things deserve full attention and are a one off commitment. With the exception of Mad Men, which was a first lockdown family challenge, I have never watched any of these epic US series all the way through, and doubt I ever will - Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, The Wire ……Lots of stuff I ‘watch’ while playing on the iPad, ie multitasking/doing two things badly. Mind you, I do that when I’m ‘working’ too.

In short my attention span is ****ed. The only way I focus on a QPR game is by actually being in the stadium.
