The New Arsene Wenger?

Discussion in 'Tottenham Hotspur' started by The Life & Times of Helder Postiga, Oct 23, 2011.

  1. I honestly never thought the Premier League would be graced by a manager who talks as much guff as Wenger. However, King Kenny- surrounded by his adoring herds of delusional Pool fans- is rapidly earning the title of 'Guffer' himself...

It beggars belief, especially when viewed in stark relief of this particular gem from Mark "I've got Liverpool shining out of my every orifice' Lawrenson...

  2. Suarez has been found out. I said he would at the end of last season. Even the likes of Norwich know how to stop him. He will ultimately become a flop in the EPL. The difference with Drogba (with whom Lawro compared him, regarding his diving antics) is that Drogba has strength and height as well as skill. Suarez is simply too lightweight to last in the EPL. Seeing Suarez getting muscled off the ball time and time again really makes me appreciate just how good Moddy is, being a little fellow, but with so much skill, that defenders simply cannot get near him.

As for "King" Kenny, he is fast running out of excuses, and the fans will turn on him, just as the Gooners have turned on Wenger.

I don't particularly rate Dalglish, but the whole "he needs more protection" tactic is pretty common for managers in the PL, particularly those who have a skilful player who hasn't adjusted to the physicality. Even when Ronaldo was throwing himself all over the place back in 2004 SAF was still claiming he needed protection and that people accusing him of diving were just making up for the fact that they couldn't deal with his pace. Ditto with Nani and with Mourinho and Drogba and Robben; Benitez with Torres and Redknapp with Bale.

Admittedly, Suarez is worse at diving and faking than most of those, although Drogba and Ronaldo at their worst were appalling. But Dalglish is just doing what any other manager would do when the player they depend upon is being marked out of games and isn't having the impact they'd hoped for.

  4. Wrong. "King" Kenny is doing what only SAF and Wenger would do, which is to whinge that things are not going their way, and to use the media to try to put pressure on refs and other officials to give them an unfair advantage.

It's utterly pathetic, and there is absolutely no defending it.

I have to agree with Swarbs on this one.
It's pretty standard behaviour, even if it is utter bullshit and an attempt to deflect away from Suarez' unsavoury actions.

"It is their integrity that needs questioning not his. On the football pitch he is exemplary, a fantastic footballer and we have 100% faith in Luis and the way he conducts himself." - KD
That's a pretty ridiculous statement, though.

  6. The only managers who I have ever heard demanding that their players be given special treatment by refs are SAF, Wenger and now Queen Kenny.

Yes of course. Managers who complain to the media to try and put pressure on referees are downright wrong.

Given his habit of gouging, kicking or racially abusing opposition players, surely opposition players need protectiong from Luis Suarez?

Kenny Dalglish - as mental as Liverpool's fans. Discuss.

    Disgraceful stuff.
I'm glad we don't have any players that have ever bitten an opponent... <whistle>

Bit of a joke, isn't it? From what I've seen of Suarez's behaviour, so far, I would have thought Dalglish has got it the wrong way round. It's the rest of the PL players who need more protection from Suarez.

  15. Sorry for my prolonged absence lads- i feel my contribution to my own thread has been rather like farting in a lift, then getting off on the next floor leaving everyone else to suffer. <whistle>

For Man Utd fans (i DOUBT there are any actually on line right now! ), sorry that this thread found its way onto your board. As a 'newbie' I believe that I have a quota of 3 mistakes per week on the forum. :emoticon-0110-tongu

Back to the main point: All I can say about the storm in a teacup between Swarbs and Hod is that whilst it is true that almost every manager has a deluded gripe every now and again, 'Arry very much included in that, the fact that Dalglish has to moan every five minutes- much like the manager of le Scum- is what has sadly set him apart this season, even- and I risk a battering for this- more than old Bacon Face himself.

Anyway, off to merrier areas now. We just won and I've noticed Lucarse being a racist pillock over on another thread...

  16. Well of course you're on here Luke- sometimes I wonder whether you're a closet spurs fan...

In a funny way, I think today's result will have finally opened SAF's eyes to the enormous amount of work needed at OT if this season's gonna be a success. Quite frankly, your defence has looked iffy in almost every game so far, nor have you looked too convincing on the road. If anything, 6-1 will ensure that Utd don't go down the same slippery 'Wenger Highway' travelled by Le Scum for the last half a decade, blissfully allowing rot and complacency to take root whilst blindly insisting that nothing's wrong.

SAF will act quickly to fix the gaping holes exposed by the Mercs today. The question is; will that be enough?

    Methinks not...

Is it really their defence that's the problem, though?
I'd suggest that it's more about their midfield, barring Evans.

  18. I think you're right PNP. As much as I hated the man, they need a Roy Keane in the centre of it all. On the other hand, their midfield is still very young; given a bit of time it'll probably be top drawer.

Oh, and while Im here I just wanted to (publicly) thank you (on what i sincerely hope is a scouser-free thread- they're a bit rare nowadays) for your wise, diplomatic, mature and well-argued stand against Lucaaaas and his covert racism. It has no place here on Not 606 and I thank you for manning the trenches.

    My pleasure, TL&THP.
I don't get much chance to slag someone off now that I'm a mod, so I welcomed the opportunity!
