or being unkind to a German manager A subsequent "quote" from same manager in the same article refers to "could've" so it looks like it's the editor using non existent verbs; Do they not ****ing proof read?
Huxley provides so many delicious quotes, but the Delta mirror, printed on khaki paper, in words of one syllable, is one of my faves. I always think of it, when seeing neanderthal types, lip reading the Sun or the Mirror on the train.
Didn't the utopian Brave New World break down in the end in favour of the "nethanderals" who had been living outside of it.
Long time ago I read it. I could have looked at the plot on Wikipedia like wot you just did, I suppose.
I love H G Wells, C S Lewis, John Wyndham. British classic sci fi. Also a book I could highly recommend, is the sequel to the Time machine, the The Time ships by Steven Baxter. He wrote in the style of H G, it's really good. I like modern stuff too, Alistair Reynolds, Kim Stanley Robinson etc;
I've quite eclectic taste in reading. Recently went through a phase of re-reading Robert Sheckley (his 1950's sci-fi). Including his "Dimension of Miracles" novel. This is the book that Douglas Adams not only ripped off but damn near copied for "The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy".
Do. You'll see the stolen plot and plot devices, themes (particularly in regard to science, religion, commercialism), the satire, humour, and mood (particularly in regarding the Universe as an absurd place), I could go on... Adams also nicked ideas from some Sheckley short stories in the additional books in Hitchhikers series. Additionally, Adams had his quirky "Dirk Gently" holistic detective series. Sheckley had a similar detective series (which I have not read). Sad, but true, Adams was a thief and as near as damn a plagiarist. Allegedly.
I haven't read any Philip K Dick. I'm aware of his work. It has been adapted for movies ( "Blade Runner", etc.). What are your thoughts on Lovecraft (oo-err missus)
