Slim chance of a statement Friday afternoon. Lots of things need to align, but one is being prepared just incase
I think you are spot on. I know that my family will not pay over the odds. It’s bad enough when they visit us and it’s £18 for a Sunday Roast Dinner in a pub. I look at menus to see what food is on offer my Sisters look at the prices.
Isn't the Turkish Lira dropping good for their tourist industry coming out of the pandemic though? 18 Lira to the pound, you used to get 5, you'll be like a millionaire over there?
It depends who the target audience is I suppose. There were a few people in there on Saturday and Sunday who I know and who definitely won't have even looked at the price lists when ordering drinks or food. They would probably have been on trains to Leeds / York etc for weekends before, or often are anyway, so if it is a conscious decision by the Council to bring that 'group' of people into the City Centre then whether we like it or not the prices need to be high enough (and the quality too of course) to interest those people, or even others who might be more price conscious but would use it as a bit of a treat. ...if that makes sense?!
Absolutely You can come and stay at one of the wide range of holiday properties that me and @SW3 Chelsea Tiger are snapping up for a few hundred quid each!
As a place to eat I really don't think it's that expensive relative to other places. Certainly isn't pricier than Nibble for example, which does a roaring trade. Different offerings really, but I'm comparing them because they're similar price points. The products you can buy there are another matter, some of that stuff does seem very high end.
And good to see that the Thread has got back to the real business-discussing food and not this takeover nonsense.
