Yes, that's the problem here. In fact I would have thought that the second part (after "except") would be relatively common, so probably quite often invalidates the first bit (by the words as written anyway). Whether they intended that interpretation is another matter of course.

In this case the keeper did bring the ball "under control" (as defined by the first part) but only after also fulfilling the requirements of the second part. Which kind of negates it? Needs rewriting to express more clearly what they meant. And those two parts of the rule don't belong in the same sentence!

Is this a red card for Everton against Arsenal? Let's ask Alan Smith and Jamie Carragher. <laugh>
It's not like he's done anything similar to this recently though, eh?

Yet another case of matches apparently not existing in the eyes of the BBC

National League leaders Chesterfield will visit last season's runners-up Chelsea in the third round of the FA Cup.

The normal thing to do is report who last season's winners are facing, but apparently nobody won it last season

Not bothering to ask that the Rennes match be postponed too? Is it unpostponable? Have we already given up on that?

The article explains why we can’t postpone the Rennes one yet.

You're still finishing in the top half of the table. These are our finishing positions during the 90's/early 2000's:

    90/91 - 10
    91/92 - 15
    92/93 - 8
    93/94 - 15
    94/95 - 7
    95/96 - 8
    96/97 - 10
    97/98 - 14
    97/98 - 11
    98/99 - 10
    99/00 - 12
    00/01 - 9
    01/02 - 10
    02/03 - 14
    03/04 - 9

Sorry, but there's no sympathy to be had here... stick with it!<laugh>

All the above due to an injury-time "wonder strike" winner ??

My suggestion : the sport of watching Adele videos on auto-repeat.

Yeah I'm not surprised you want us to stick with it! <laugh> I'm sure every rival fanbase does.

Banter aside, Arsenal are objectively a wealthy club with a large fanbase and have (traditionally at least) a rich history (albeit some of you will disagree). And although no team is entitled to success, we are entitled to expect better considering our manager has spent £230m, had 4 transfer windows, and been in the job for nearly 2 full years now. He's been supported heavily by the ownership.

At no other 'top-6' club would this mediocrity be tolerated, so I don't understand why KSE are tolerating it. An asset they paid lots of money for is depreciating in value rapidly and they're aware fans are deeply dissatisfied. Yet they still aren't willing to do anything to change it.

In history, when has a novice manager taken over a club and had a successful long-term career there? I can't think of anyone.

I feel like they're trying to pioneer something that hasn't been done before and won't ever bear fruit.

We keep hearing that we need to have 'patience' and 'give it time', whilst other clubs are catching up or usurping us. It's mind-blowing how long the Arteta experiment has been allowed to continue.

I wasn't suggesting that Arsenal should stick with Arteta. At the time of his appointment, I said that it was a desperate punt and it's not looked like anything else, aside from a streaky cup win.

In the summer just gone, you doubled down on his appointment by letting him and Edu spend the best part of £150m, which you probably didn't have to spend, in the first place. It's not made any significant difference (other than to your bank balance) and you still need to replace Aubameyang and Lacazette.

I was suggesting that YOU stick with it...Some suffering is good for the soul. It'll prepare you for life's journey.

Me? I've suffered enough...I supported Spurs throughout a decade and a half of true mediocrity.
