After the last two disappointing away performances and results, we need to win here. Everton did the double over us last season for the first time in decades I believe. If we want to be in with a serious shot of competing for top-4, this is the type of game we need to be winning, especially with the turmoil Everton are in currently. I think they've won 1 in their last 10 or something like that, their fans hate their board and manager, and we won't get a better opportunity to capitalise on their current woes.

They will probably be thinking similar stuff about us, but my belief is we have a bit more quality than them and so I expect us to showcase that.

Anything less than a win isn't acceptable IMO.

Yep, must win this one. Otherwise Spurs and Utd are going to start pulling away from us.

Also Martinelli needs to start ahead of Aubameyang

    HT. 0-1.

Can't say we deserve to be winning, but I'm glad we are. However, we need to do much better in the second half if we want to win this game. Everton are there for the taking, yet we're playing like garbage.

How Godfrey is still on the pitch is a mystery. Clear stamp on Tomiyasu's face and VAR said no further action <doh>. Joke decision.

    Everton are an absolute mess.

Their fans hate their manager, they were protesting against their board, they were verbally abusing their players and there is a general sense of dissatisfaction surrounding their club.

Yet they could have beaten us by 4 or 5 today.

How bad are we that we made a poor Everton side look good?

Arteta has a lot to answer for. Shocking selections, substitutions and far too slow to find ways of exerting control on the game.

    Horrible, horrible week of football.

Had enough now, so Arteta has to go as he clearly doesn’t know how to manage this squad and has no game management skills.

why play Nketiah when he wants to go !

why are all the senior players so poor and keep giving the ball away in the parts of the field.

why when we are leading do we sit back and invite teams on to us and put ourselves under pressure. We lost against United and tonight because we couldn’t go get a second goal and then concede possession and then goals.

we need a manager who is experienced and who can get the best out of the youngsters and make the senior players actually work and play better

Arteta's been in the job for nearly two full years now. He shouldn't be making mistakes like this.

They still won't sack him, though, will they? Useless ****ing owners.

we had a let off for 2 goals as VAR did it’s job, but there was a red card not issued and also clear fouls on Saka twice and then Tavares went unpunished - red was a joke.

    Shocking display tonight.
Even on our recent surge up the table I didn't think we ever looked that convincing and a lot of our success was against lower teams.
We really have helped Everton get it together when we should have stuck it on them.
ESR missing did not help but then with Xhaka coming back and Partey poor again the midfield had no bite.
Martinelli tried hard and drew the defenders for the goal but Lacazette didn't get into the game at all.
Arteta needs to do something otherwise there will be a dramatic slide back down the table.

Yeah come on - Arteta has to go.

The lack of intensity is a huge issue.

What I really don't get is - If we are going down the Guradiola route with passing out from the back etc .. where is the speed of passing, the quick movement, the interchange of position?.. It just doesn't make sense.

As we saw against Liverpool we are MILES behind the best sides not just in terms of player but speed of play and general intensity is soo FAR from those teams.

Nobody expects us to win the league with this squad but the least we should expect is a side that scraps, fights and makes things difficult.

18 months left on Artetas contract.

we won’t sack him so I’m just counting the days at this point.

    Zidane ?

I didn't want Zidane to go United -just had feeling he would do well in the EPL. Maybe would be good for us.

Another good option could be Erik ten Hag.

Pound for pound that's the worse loss I've seen from any team in quite some time. Probably since Man Utd lost at home to Sheffield Utd.

I'd be surprised if Arteta was Arsenal manager this time next year.

We were ****ing gash against Everton. One of the worst performances I’ve seen from us in a long time and there’s been a few

Why would you be surprised? As poor as we've been recently, this isn't even our lowest point under Arteta. I genuinely don't know what it would take for him to get fired. It seems there is no depth we could sink to that would mean KSE get rid.

Being around the relegation zone on Boxing Day last year wasn't enough for him to get sacked. The fact we got embarrassed out of the Europa League semi-final by our old manager wasn't enough for him to get sacked. Not getting European football for the 1st time in 25 years wasn't enough for him to get sacked. His mishandling of certain players' situations wasn't enough for him to get sacked. Breaking records for all the wrong reasons last season wasn't enough for him to get sacked.

He should have gone a long time ago, but at this stage, I have no idea what it would take for him to leave.

No Europe again then he's gone in 2022 - of that I'm sure.

There's simply no way United and Tottenham will be as bad under new management and City will be there or thereabouts in Pep's last season. It's only really Chelsea and Liverpool that there is a question mark over but either the way the path back for Arsenal into Europe is near impossible if they don't do it this year.

Arsenal will let Arteta run through the full tenure of his contract, so that's another 18 months, barring a disaster.

I'm not really Arteta in or Arteta out, I just want to see this team reach its potential. We have some great young players, but the senior players simply aren't doing enough atm and that has to come down to the coaching.
