McCann said today that Wilks is out for 8 weeks. So he’ll be going nowhere during this transfer window.
Curious that McCann said in response to that news that we're lucky we have plenty of options in that area and it'll be a chance for others to impress. I think we essentially have two available forwards for two spaces for the Everton game (assuming we still play 2 up front and KLP remains out wide if playing at all). I wonder if in saying that he's deliberately trying to downplay any idea of us being desperate for attackers, so as not to give anyone any ideas about overcharging us for one in the window.
I think it's more about showing a bit of confidence in the lads who'll be starting. But let's face it, it's a close call between Magennis/Eaves and Smith/Wilks as a front 2 anyway. None are proven to be truly prolific above L1. In a 3 its Magennis as the anchor point all the way but as a 2 I doubt it'll make much difference. The preferred 2 don't score anyway. Big Tom to cause havoc and young Tyler to chase and get in behind. Create a space for Longman, KLP and George to work in and we'll be a threat.
Grant McCann has revealed that Andy Cannon has joined the list of injury absentees ahead of this weekend’s game against Stoke City.
Just when he’s started to impress… “It doesn’t look good for Randell in the changing room after the game” Grant McCann
Saw him hobbling to the game today - he said he's ok but very sore. He believes he could be out for "seven or eight weeks".
