I don't mean it should manufactured, but just from the point of view where it's so predictable, there is no point even tuning in for casual fans. I'm sure that the Merc dominance has hurt viewing figures fairly considerably, hence why they have tried to slow them down this season.
If next years aero regulations work then it should be more engine and driver, which is a sensible move in the right direction. On Masi, he lost my respect with his handling of Brazil, he doesn't speak with authority yet he has been given authority. Promoted above his experience. Needs a stronger personality who knows where to take the rules. Clearly there is a lot of negotiation between him and the teams/drivers away from race days and I believe he is carryin too many agendas and can't meet them all. RBR clearly have a strong lobby. However, my concern is that someone is going to get seriously hurt as the racing gets harder, at which point we will be reminded of the reason for some of the rules. I think the rules are turning in Max's favour and a new dominant era will follow. Who on the grid, with the right car, has the maturity and grit to challenge Max, beyond Lewis and Alonso? Would LeClerc, Sainz, Ricciardo, Norris, Russell do so successfully? I leave out Gasley deliberately.
Just watching C4 highlights and noticed that the time where max actually let's Lewis back past you can see he just lifts no downshifting from 7th to 3rd, then max gets drs and comes back past Lewis. Sort of proves max did brake test Lewis. Deliberately causing an accident deserves more than a 10 second penalty that does not alter anything is no penalty at all. I know they want a close battle but too many precedents are being made to keep the 'battle' going at the expense of safety. In fact after max's driving today I really hope he doesn't win championship.
It's genuinely pathetic. The time when the show is more important than the sport is the time I stop following. The annoying thing is that the show will make more money and is certain to take precedent.
What's scarier is Max getting driver of the day as it's showing a shift in what the fans want as well. At least the newer fans anyhow.
No... I think we're the ones watching them float on by. The angry mob are the ones doing the shouting.
Looking at Twitter I think so. I feel like a Grandad "When I was your age, F1 was blah blah blah" haha. I have to say as well, I also don't like the precedent that a driver can cut a corner, and when giving the position back give it back in such a way that they keep the advantage. Sure it's clever but surely that goes against the whole point of giving the place back. It's supposed to be a gentleman's agreement almost. Now it's just an all for your self no matter what it takes.
I mean, once upon a time I guess you could hand it back and then almost pounce right away .. but with DRS in play, it really does leave the door open to some dirty tactics.
Exactly . At least with Charlie you knew where you stood . This Messy bloke changes his mind more than a prostitute changes her knickers .
100% agree. My concern is Max only has to take Lewis out in the finale and he wins the championship. I think Masi and the stewards are sending the wrong message, yesterday Max was allowed too many misdemeanors. 10 seconds was no penalty. I have my fingers crossed that Lewis wins this weekend because Max's way is no way to win the championship. Max's late breaking into corners are nothing more than a lunge, it is not skill. We want close racing but not cheats.
