I would say it depends on whether they were both within the delta. If Lewis was at the fast end of the limit, and Bottas at the slower, by the rules they've done nothing wrong.

 

Surprised they didn't leave Bottas out, why not hedge bets whilst holding Max back.

Not really. Max’s problem was driver error, not bad luck.

 

To be fair, it might not be entirely luck. I think every crash has caused a red flag here to repair the barriers.

Perhaps Mercedes just missed a trick.
