:emoticon-0164-cash: A new thread on the theme of how we're all getting shafted by greedy buggers :emoticon-0164-cash:

    Here's a story that won't surprise anyone...

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-59508286

Oil price goes up ... petrol prices go up.
Oil price comes down... petrol prices go up.
    Bastids :headbang:

When the oil price rises they slap extra on petrol within hours.
When the oil price goes down, they take a couple of pence off after about three months.
    It's a long running disgrace.

I've always felt the cost of any price rise in a barrel of oil seemed to be passed on to the customer instantly, while when the price dropped, it would take effect very slowly at the petrol pumps. It's exactly the same here in Spain, although petrol is a little cheaper which I assume is because the tax on it is less.

Did you know Diesel is still much cheaper than unleaded here - just this weird disparity I see when I travel between Spain and the UK. I heard they are trying to phase out diesel cars here at some point in the not too distant future, but at the same time, the indtroduction of an additive called AdBlu or something similar apparently reduces the contamination to acceptable levels for the oil producers, so diesel is still a cheaper option, though appaerntly not very economic if you are driving short distances.

A pair of slippers cost £25 2 months ago at Fatface in Sevenoaks are now falling apart. Made in C***a, of course.

It’s your own fault, you should have bought British made slippers.
Oh, hang on a minute, you can’t can you.

No, you can't. If you look hard enough you can get slippers made in a country other than China.........................Vietnam.

    My God.

To think, we used to make things in this country.
All we do now is serve coffee and stand around water coolers. Those who work at all that is.
Kids getting their first job after leaving school next year will probably get nothing dirtier than a bit of photo copier toner on their little fingers until the day they retire.

I've been reading up the biographies of some of our early (pre-WW2) players.
Some of them worked down the coal mines before becoming professional footballers.
    Don't think many were baristas.

FRank Beattie was captain of Kilmarnock when I used to attend their games. He worked down the mines until he was 26, finishing work at 2pm, having a bite at his parents', and going to training in the evening. He turned full-time at 26, and captained Killie to the league title in 1964/65, the last team outside the 4 main cities to do so. He had a stand named after him a few years ago.

When you go to the check-out just ask "how much is this?"

If they had a pound for every time they've been asked that question... <ok>

    Surprise surprise.
The commercialisation of yearly celebrations in the UK goes on unabated...:emoticon-0164-cash:

Somebody is putting it about that people should now buy Valentines Day gifts for their children and pets.

Come on, give parents a break for pity's sake!
The cost of living is already soaring.
Kids get presents on their birthdays, Christmas, and a ton of chocolate at Easter.
We don't need another date on the calendar to put pressure on parents to buy stuff for their children.
