United/City derby is now the most important in the EPL

Discussion in 'Manchester United' started by Hoddle is a god, Oct 21, 2011.

  1. Whether you like it or not, that's a fact.

Forget the LFC/United game. That's only important to United fans who would rather bury their heads in the sand and pretend that City are not going to rule English football for the next decade, and 'Pool fans who still believe that their team isn't washed-up on the shores of an almost forgotten history. You were never going to lose to 'Pool, even playing as badly as you did; and even if you had lost to 'Pool it wouldn't mattered in the slightest, since they would still have finished outside the top 5, and you would still have finished second, to City.

Lose tomorrow, and City can begin their EPL victory celebrations early.

    Discuss.

You've missed the point of people saying the Liverpool game is more important. They will always be our biggest rivals and that is the biggest game. The Title deciding games like United/City this year or United/Chelsea last 2 years are different.

As for the city dominating stuff and winning the title in october well thats so ridiculous it borderlines on Wummery. This is their first real test.

    Bullshit.

Regardless of Citys wealth they are not a patch on the club that liverpool is.

Man Utd v Man city has and will always be a massive game for the fans and the nuetrels but unless city take over the football world for the next 20 years they wont ever compare to the rivalry we have with the scouse. You cant buy that sort of rivalry for **** sake.

Locality only adds a part of the passion in a derby, when a team who is close by is regarded as one of the best in england and your own club is regarded as one of the best the rivalry takes on a new level. History has always been about man utd v liverpool.

  9. That's right, you said it - HISTORY!

It's the joint arrogance of a certain type of United and 'Pool fan who genuinely believes that anyone else in the footballing world gives two hoots about that match. Let me tell you, we don't. It's like changing the guard at Buck Palace - it used to have significance, but it doesn't any more.

Nobody cares if other clubs fans think it is important. To us the Liverpool game will always have more feeling, because of the history. How is that arrogance?

  12. LFC couldn't even beat Norwich at Anfield. Don't tell me that you don't feel a little bit embarrassed for them.

I know, its bad to have a history of 3 champs league titles and 19 League titles.

    So depressing.... :)

Utd vs City will probably be the most important match in the PL this year.
Last year Utd vs Chelsea was the most important match, as it was the year before.
But every year Utd vs Liverpool is the biggest match for Utd fans.

The City match is only important because they are potential title challengers. The Liverpool match is important because they are our fiercest rivals.

  18. What complete and utter tosh!

How can 'Pool be your "fiercest" rivals when they offer you absolutely no threat whatsoever? You might just as well claim Leeds to be your fiercest rivals (and, indeed, they probably are, from the historical viewpoint).

In the 70s and 80s, yes, 'Pool were your fiercest rivals. Indeed, they were the fiercest rivals for quite a few teams. But they haven't been anywhere near you for some time now (apart from that one season when Benitez was in charge, but that was clearly a fluke).

By all means, you lot keep on living in this dream world, but City have already stolen your thunder, and you don't even know it yet.

Are you really trying to tell other fans who they feel more rivalry with?

HIAG - how can you say that? 'Pool v United isn't/wasn't just about title rivalry, do you not know the location of the two cities?!
