If the fella has given LJ grief and then can't handle it coming back at him then he shouldn't dish it out in the first place.
for a normal Sunderland supporter i would agree, who knows if he is one of those fluid gender people, who was devastated by it, and expects a massive pay out im itching to know the Outcome of this
Not a lot to add to what has already been said. Cracking start but then just didn’t push on and seemed to lose our way somewhat. Definitely not a free kick on Gooch tried to con the ref and we payed dearly for it. It could have been cleared a couple of times before that. 2nd half much better just missing the killer goal. Shame really because I think we did enough to win and Oxford offered very little in the final third. Need to keep positive. Disappointing but we should be used to it by now. Time for a malt. Keep the faith.
Thought we played well 2nd half, LJ has stopped the rot and turned the corner with an unbelievable amount of injuries to key players, he deserves credit for that. We are 2 off top with 2 home games coming up, I can’t understand the negativity by some. If we had a full strength squad we would be pissing this league
Prior to the game we were talking about about the in and out form of Lynden Gooch and his inconsistency and today he gave away a SOFT Goal after a much improved performance at Cambridge. Lynden try to do the simple things well before trying to do the harder things - when it’s needed just clear your lines.
Agree with our injuries. The loss of all 3 recognised full backs has unbalanced us. We have very few options from the bench now. We are unlucky in the areas of injuries too. If it were CB younger could slot in no bother. Having said that I am not sure why Wearne wasnt on the bench today. I would have no problem him getting 20 mins to make a difference.
Gooch is chucked in wherever he's needed and always puts in a shift. He was involved in all of our big chances after the break. He made a couple of mistakes but he often had the ball played to him in poor situations. If he'd pushed the attacker in the back, inside the area, it would've been a penalty imo. This isn't a total defence but I don't think he was as bad as some of the other players who were in their natural positions.
On a side note, there was a lad in the front row of the upper block of the family corner (U13 I think) going crazy with a steward today and rightly so imo. If people are going to leave their seats on 80mins can they please **** off from the walkway area and either leave the stadium or go to the concourse underneath the stands. Blocking peoples view who are still wanting to watch the rest of the game is out of order and the stewards need to sort it out. I've experienced this first hand at one of the Papa John's games in the East Stand and it's annoying as ****. I don't mind people leaving early, there are reasons for it but, if you are going to leave; then leave. Rant over.
The manager clearly wants them to play out from the back. The sort of players we have brought in this year (Cirkin/Doyle) can do it, but Gooch, Flanagan etc can't. If the injury situation dictates we have to play these players in defence then maybe the manager needs to change his style of play in the short term
Johnson won’t get us promoted, I’m absolutely certain of that now. Just can’t be happy with a point at home to Oxford United.
Made this point during the game - the lad needs a run in his natural position (right wing) to find some form. From memory, he's played right back, left back, right wing back, right wing & no.10 in the last 5 or 6 games
Every time we don’t win in this league I take it badly for fear of having to stay here longer. Especially when we pass up another chance to go top or whatever. But I’ve calmed down a bit now and think we played well overall. Win the next two we are ok, but pressure on to do so now. Gooch is annoying as we all know his strengths and weaknesses, and he showed both again today.
The whole team looked better in their preferred formation. Last 2 home games in the league, Johnson has tinkered with the formation and we've looked ****. Then he's gone back to 4-2-3-1 and we've looked better
He did. Today was his sort of game - good old fashioned scrap with a physical side. He did surprisingly well at Right Back. There were lots of positives from today I'm starting to worry about Ross Stewart though.
Stewart needs a goal desperately. Chances he had at the start of the season were going in now it looks like he cant buy one! The one onto the bar today was going in at the start of the season!
That’s what he does. Chop and change, players in several different positions each game. It’s pathetic.
