The most recent government commissioned report into this subject, Apr 2021, found that the UK is not a systematically racist country that is “rigged” against non-white people but that racism still existed. It also noted that there were some, unnamed, organisations that still were "Snowy White Peaks" "Yes, there are still some ‘snowy white peaks’ at the very top of the private and public sectors, and not all of that can be accounted for by the fact that members of the ethnic minorities have not, by definition, been embedded in the country’s human networks and institutions for as long as the White majority." It proposed 24 improvements, including eduction, health and closing pay gaps https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...oreword-introduction-and-full-recommendations
Why are you trying to goad others to answer something that they didn't state in their posts. My reason for responding to you is clear as you categorically stated that white skinned people have some sort of self interest for being anti racist.
And still they come......to this vile racist hellhole where they are **** upon at every turn and are treated with contempt and are destined to be at the bottom of the rung for evermore..... what a load of cod
Where did I state that white skinned people have some sort of self interest for being anti racist? Lewis Hamilton, Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey are all virtue signallers. I have not said anything about incidents of racism. They are deplorable, unless you're Jussie Smollett, I'm asking for an example of institutional bias in this country. You don't have to answer. Just say you don't want to.
Very interesting so far. " Put simply we no longer see a Britain where the system is deliberately rigged against ethnic minorities. The impediments and disparities do exist, they are varied, and ironically very few of them are directly to do with racism. Too often ‘racism’ is the catch-all explanation, and can be simply implicitly accepted rather than explicitly examined. The evidence shows that geography, family influence, socio-economic background, culture and religion have more significant impact on life chances than the existence of racism. That said, we take the reality of racism seriously and we do not deny that it is a real force in the UK."
Well, I think Eric's report sums it up so I won't be asking for anyone to answer my question. There are two posters who really should read the report.
I’ve actually read some of that report, the summary and chunks of the text was rewritten by Downing Street and not the 12 independent commissioners who were selected to carry out the review. They themselves didn’t say the nation didn’t suffer from institutional racism, No.10 did. They disputed the rewrite, much of which contradicts the actual facts contained within the report. But there you go, not racist, no Sir.
A commission of ethnic minority experts in many fields. I totally agree with the paragraph I pasted. You can overcome any beginning you have in life through luck or hard work. Your privilege is not from your race, it's from your circumstances. A Saudi prince worth billions is the same race as a peasant Bedouin born in a tent innthe desert. If your mother is a drug addict who got knocked up by someone when she was wasted you're going to have it tough, no matter what race you are. My dad got to the UK in the 50s and, as a Paddy, was hated and discriminated against by many. He worked his bollocks off so I had it better than him. Tobes and Jammy are virue signallers because they didn't or couldn't answer the question. As I said, a young black guy would list endless things he'd experienced and if I tried to argue any of them he'd tell me to get ****ed, because it means something to him. Neither of them seem to have a clue apart from what they've read in the Guardian
