Poor little kid can't even be buried yet, he lies in the morgue, whilst the grandparents argue over who has the right to bury him.

All this proves there is a massive difference between being WOKE and being awake

When I was a kid the Police and Teachers were respected almost feared and they kept most of the teenagers under control

Parents kept their children under control apart from a small minority who were past redemption and went on to breed more of the same

Spare the rod and ruin the child has become a truth

Their is a massive difference between discipline and child abuse, the current generation seem to have lost site of that

I did have a thought about all this and any cases like this, how come other family didn't know. I understand it might have been a member of family that reported concerns initially, but I still ask, what did they do to follow it up and check on the boy themselves.

I get everyone was locked down, but couldn't someone have phoned and asked to speak to their grandchild, especially if they've highlighted a problem. Now the boy may not be able to say anything over the phone, but you just use intuition, to get a feel of things.

It is bewildering, we now have 2 sets of grandparents arguing over who buries him, pity they didn't put that effort into him whilst he was alive.

The other case I mentioned earlier in Bradford, on 10 occasions Social Services made appointments to see her, each time it was cancelled as the mom said one or both were ill, surely that should have triggered alarm bells

Exactly mate on both points. I trust no fooker and if I feel something is wrong I would want to check, and even if we are locked down, fook the cops, I'm still going and checking.

Also the young lad that was six, did the grandparents never actually sit down and speak to their grandson on visits. I always do it with mine, I sit down and have a chat.

It's just a personal thing for me, how are you, what have you been doing, normally kids chatter away, tell you all the things they probably shouldn't haha - but you also get a feel for how their mood is on that particular day.

I don't think that's the answer tbh. In my experience, the single biggest difference between now and in my day, is that in my day when my parents were called in, they backed the teacher. Now what I see is the parents are either trying to defend their kids OR completely resigned to their behaviour. It'll either be playing the victim card "they're being bullied" (where the parents haven't a fcking clue what bullying means, and what you've really got is anger issues combined with a lack of social skills and no boundaries at home) or you'll have parents shrugging their shoulders going "I try but what can I do?" (while I'm thinkiung, I tell you what you fcking do, take away the Xbox and the TV in his room, stop giving in to his demands, you're the parent not him, and put in some fcking sanctions).

You don't need to beat kids at home (although a rap across the back of the leg I wouldn't rule out once in a while if they're about to stick their finger in a plug socket)) or cane them at school. You just need the child to know there's no fcking wriggle room if they cross the line, and no matter how much they try and resist. Some of the worst kids have been turned by parents and teachers singing from the same hymn sheet and being tight at school and at home.

I'll also add, THE biggest factor in influencing any child, whether it's at home or at school, is building a relationship with them. Parents who don't will see their kids no longer feel bound by them, and teachers I've seen who think all they need to do is shout at the kid and stick them in detention without ever trying to get to know them, will only see the situation snowball as the child just sees them as an utter **** and nothing more.

It's not just one or the other, there is a balance to it all.

I know teachers who have quit who have been teachers for a long time and many said the reason they quit was the parents. Parents get worse every year... The kids are mostly fine, but the parents make the job unbearable.

Here it depends very much on the area, on the parents you deal with. The biggest reason for teachers leaving here is the workload and the lack of resources which adds to the workload.

Just horrible people the whole lot, the grandparents also blaming the authorities… if they had concerns they should have done something about instead of standing idly by waiting to blame others.

Says it all when the paternal mother is in prison for killing her ex.

I’ve only skimmed the story but got the impression she’s relatively alright and maybe murdered the ex because of abuse or something. She’s probably a **** too but just how I read it.

Both had drink and drug issues, she had stabbed him once before bit charges had got dropped as he changed his story to say she didn't do it but wouldn't name who had. Both had violent histories, a previous boyfriend had finished their relationship because of her physical abuse. Judge said from witness accounts it was obvious they both were perpetrators of violent episodes, at the time of the killing she also had another bloke on the go, neither of the men knew each other.
