France is food self-sufficient. The reason we aren’t is because is because it’s cheaper to import certain stuff than produce it domestically.
We could probably be a lot closer to self-sufficiency if we want a diet of turnip, swede, cabbage, peas and potato with the odd bit of dairy and egg and bread.

I grow my own tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, radish, spring onion, green beans, rhubarb, carrots, potatoes, raspberries, strawberries, chard and chillies. Grow herbs as well.

Daughter became veggie 3 years ago never looked back and does 100 Mike cycle rides and plays tennis at a good level , with no bother , suggests meat isn’t essential if you get the rest right . I’d rather have my Turkey tho instead of a nut roast!
