What a fantastic game of football! We absolutely blitzed them for the first 25 mins - probably the best we have played IMO. Then unfortunately, we let them get in back in the game and lost control for the next 25. Then we controlled the game once we scored the 3rd. Ruthless! All 4 goals were incredibly and there were plenty of MOTM candidates. For me, Hendo was superb and probs his best performance in over a year. His attacking play on the right side has been exceptional this season but was largely overshadowed by his poor defensive contribution. However as we saw last night, if we have Fabinho and thiago sitting, then the system works Big shout out to Robbo as well - he's been electric for the past 2 games. Hope it continues! amazing what a bit of squad depth can do
Have to reiterate how good Henderson was last night. Everywhere, energetic, at his best. As for Everton, they were dreadful and could never compete. They did their best to cheat and should have had a 3rd yellow for diving.
Last night pub then to mates for match, this morning bacon sarnie and now watching match again coz yer never watch game properly when yer drinking .
Last few years he’s def added some finesse to his game. He’s always been energetic and shown great leadership but I think he’s gone up a level on the ball recently. His goal was a lovely strike, added to the one a few weeks ago and his intricate passing is much better now. Whether that’s cos he’s being released further up so can take more risks maybe but few examplles yesterday where played little passes through and a lovely little flick behind him to Jota.
Watching Thiago on the ball is just quality though. His passing is just on another level. The amount of times where he’s square on and has an easy pass sidewards to fab or out wide to TAA and instead he pings it through the lines to front 3 or Hendo. It looks simple and nothing particularly special but it just breaks those lines and gets the ball behind their midfield so they have to turn. Joy to watch when on form and I think that kind of player is still under appreciated to the more athletic big strong players in the prem.
The Fabinho and Thiago partnership continues to flourish. I believe it's now 12 wins out 13 when these two start.
It was wasn't it. I think all our goals were excellent. I was mad at Jota though when in possession and with a quick turn he could have scored only to stop for handball. It was definitely handball but why give up a very good possibility of scoring to risk an unlikely call from the referee.
My favourite of the night. Messi does that and it's all over the news. Fantastic bit of business from the club tbh slotted right in seamlessly with the rest of the team from the off and adds to our overall skillset, he also has that killer instinct in front of goal that bobby simply doesn't possess. Big fan
Don't get me wrong I'm a Jota fan too just thought he misjudged getting a call from the ref last night. As for Bobby, don't lose your memories of him and what he's been for this team too quickly. He's not peak Bobby now but he offers something completely different when he's out there.
Oh nah i wasnt kncking Bobby just emphasising the good work done by the club to find someone who adds something different to the other 3. And paying 40m over a 28year period was good business too
