We all want that it will happen but NP has no magic wand at present.
    Jan will be very interesting.

I don't think NP has a magic wand at all tbh. He has not been able to get much out of the players he has, or the ones he brought in. I am concerned he will bring in more of his old mates like Simpson on high wages who will contribute nothing. SL needs to ensure any deals are carefully scrutinised and actually offer value for money. If not, he may as well have kept Mark Ashton, who for all his faults, knew how to do a deal, our net spend over the last 4 seasons proves that.

I am sorry but that is wrong, I have mentioned this to you before Coventry for instance brought in around 11 players and spent 1mil + on a striker + the cost of relocating back to Coventry. Luton brought in 13 players, the cost must have far outweighed our meagre outlay.

Some of the premiership talent on loan to our rivals must be at huge cost.

I would say our total outlay is far less than most in our division and we cut our wage bill by one third.

I am sorry mate that is just making it up, Simpson and King are not high wages, James probably is because he successfully completed a full season last season.

Simpson is on £15k a week. In the current financial climate, he was offered this contract, it's astronomical!! Especially as he has barely kicked a ball this season. How can people say NP has had to "make do", and "lower the wages", yet defend his decision to give Simpson a £15k a week contract???

How exactly do you know that he is on 15k a week?, I believe that to be nonsense.

Cov may have brought in 11 players, but how do you know they accumitavley cost less than ours? The answer is you don't, you're just guessing. The only known fact is what fees were paid, and I think we were 1 of only 8 clubs to pay fees this season.
The table that Wiz put up, albeit last season shows we pay a lot more than a lot of clubs, yet we are going backwards.

You are right none of the Coventry players got a penny for signing for them, perhaps they pay subs?

Because it is far more logical that bringing in 11 players against bringing 4 is going to cost more.

Mind you I fully expect all of ours stars like Wells, ODowda, Palmer, DaSilva and maybe even Bentley and Kalas will attract loads of interest in January and summer, so that will bring the wage bill down and some might even attract a fee.

I agree there is a chance of that, but if they brought in 3 players at say £4k per week, and we brought in Simpson on £15k, that gap closes very quickly. Add to this we re-signed Weimann @ £18k per week and Baker @£9k per week.

The only figure I would suspect is close to the truth is Baker, Weimann and Simpson are on far less.

I posted that table Wiz put up on OTIB, on a thread that was ranting about how much money that was wasted by Ashton/LJ.

People on there just simply didn't believe the figures.

If there is any truth at all in them, the Reading wages are outrageous!!!!!

Absolutely FFS Reading are in financial trouble but have signed Drinkwater on loan from Chelsea and now Carroll on a short term loan.

Swansea have Obafemi from Southampton and Rhys Williams from Liverpool, Peterborough have Connor Coventry from West Ham, Millwall have Ojo from Liverpool, QPR have Andre Gray from Watford and Sheff United have Hourihane from Villa.

Yet everyone believes (and hangs) Palmer (and LJ and MA) on his £20k a week figure..... It shows how many on here want to use some facts to their advantage and then say others can't be right....

Which is exactly what you are perpetuating, you can't have it both ways.

How? I have never said that Palmer isn't on £20k, I have also said he's not worth that, but that was where the market was at that time. I also believe (in light of nothing to prove to the contrary) that the figures from that website are as close to correct for all the players listed. Not sure how you construe I'm perpetuating anything different?
