last one i can remember was gerrard against preston, was only back in march..dont see the problem....
You asked when we last looked threatening from a corner or set piece and at Peterborough, Mclean scored from a corner.
defiantly agree with whats been said about our lack of headed goals. But i wouldn't want to replace any member of the current match day sqauad for a proven ariel threat. Hopefully NP will come up with a plan or at least a stretching rack
What do you mean by this? Our direct free kicks are the most embarrassing of all. If we get a free kick in a promising position, we just get someone to blast it into the bottom of the wall, they've done it so many times lately it must be deliberate, like they're hoping the wall will jump and it slips under them. Koren, Fryatt and Devitt have all done it this season. In fact I've only seen Cairney take one properly in ages i.e. over the wall.
Headed goals most certainly do count dont they !!! Both our goals conceeded today against Watford were headed goals !!! The first from a set piece free kick given away by Rosenior and the second scored by Iwelumo from a corner. I made my point on this topic on Radio Humberside straight after todays game. We look S*ite defensively from corners or set pieces and look weak as fook when we win corners or set pieces ourselves. They're two goals today were conceded purely down to the lack of our aerial threat in our own box ans we are s*ite in the opo's box at the other end !!! Hobbs was dog S*it today, could'nt pass AGAIN
To be honest I aint his biggest fan but he did nothing wrong when he came on, maybe not as impactive as Barmby though with Barmby's match winning goal V Cardiff.
How can we cure these problems in the air then? Practice headers on the training field? Buy/Loan a player with aerial threat? Personally I would like to see us replace Hobbs at the back with a stronger, better defender who can pass a ball and smash headers away defensively and score the odd goal at the other end.
