    There is one player who’s absence is negatively affecting performances. Someone we lost towards the end of the LJ era and was never replaced…..
    Brownhill.
    I suppose Williams could be a replacement but he can’t stay out of the treatment room.

    So based on your maths, with Palmer on 20k Wells is on 60k?

    No he’s not, as Wiz file shows he’s on 20k and Wells is on 27k so where is the other 33k in your sums?

    This table (albeit last season) shows that the wages in the Championship are out of control. Look at the wages of some player relegated from the Prem in the last 2 seasons, no wonder so many teams struggle. If COVID does nothing else, I hope it resets the fees and wages landscape in football.

    Bloody hell - look at Simpson!!
    That’s more of a scandal than Palmer because he was signed when money was tight - and he’s less useful than Palmer.

    If that’s accurate the Simpson signing is baffling, I thought one of the man n reasons he was signed was because he was an inexpensive option, that’s one heck of a lot of money for someone who rarely even makes the squad. What was Nige thinking?

    Well his bonuses will be zero considering he’s not playing.

    it is often repeated that LJ had loads to spend more than anyone else .. 2 sides of a COIN really... he had more players sold from under him to disrupt and cause repeated rebuilds than anyone else! the money from sales is the reason there was more to spend!!!
    HOW MANY managers get a paid period of grace to assess with all the knowledge "wont be much money to spend and due to covid had no income so starting off in the red " [ something all previous managers have pretty much had without covid!]

    DH couldnt spend as no crowds and debt building ...

    the deeper you look into our present situation the more murky the water. NP had a situation, he handled it from a point of view bin out a dozen or more players and save around 250k a week so debt grows less by the week [ in other words you have less weekly contributing to the rising debt ] ..problem was, a knee jerk reaction!!! out with the dish water went a few bits of the silver cutlery ... which now need replacing!

    Bringing in Simpson and Curtis Fleming MIGHT be contributing circa £50 a week? players like King / Atkinson / James / Tanner around £100k??? so saving is around £100k still a lot of money either way. But really what do Simpson and Curtis Fleming bring! ...........

    I tend to make odd notes and keep the scraps of paper for a while, I also look to see what influences / makes a thing change [ either good or bad ! ]. Posted elsewhere last 3 managers first season starts and worst of the 4 is the present!! Given he is so called much more savvy, experienced of a higher grade why is that so??? the yardstick has to be and CAN ONLY BE RESULTS!! ...
    first 10 games:-
    8th Bristol City 10 15 12 12 0 D L W L W D D W D L ==== 13pts ...... WON 3 DREW 4 LOST 3 but home is cra***
    second 10 games:-
    19th Bristol City 20 23 9 18 -9 W L L L W L L D W L ==== 10pts got 2 wins at home! WON 3 DREW 1 LOST 6
    so what changed /had an influence .....
    8 games in City were 9th on 12 points next 2 had NEW ASSISTANT MANAGER with PS and KD as coach's ......
    10 games in City were 10th on 13 points NP PS KD CF .. THAT AVERAGE of points is a 60 + point season, pretty much what most on here were going to be happy with!
    13 games in City were 16th on 16pts THEN PS left [ a forward player now a coach! ]
    14 games in City were 17th on 16 pts THEN KD left [ [ as a player was midfield! now a coach]
    16 games in City were 19th on 19 pts THEN NP calls a time out ..ill with extended? covid!
    17 games in City were 19th on 19pts THEN NP returns international break
    20 games in now 18th on 23 pts HOWEVER reality points puts them 19th on 23 points Reading having collected 26 pts from match's this season! SEASON AVERAGE = 53 points !!!
    One has to find a balance?????? = players, OK 3 first choice? players have made sporadic appearances in the last 6 or 7 games and that is difficult to assess ... we may possibly have still lost with them in team [ could be said regarding staff changes, which may still have been a disaster? ]
    not all doom and gloom .. 26games and 78 points to play for ...

    Look at Reading’s wage figures!!
    Danny Drinkwater on over £100k per week - really?
    If that’s true then Ashton was positively frugal.

    For the record (again) I am not anti NP or biased towards LJ.
    I just think we’ve regressed since LJ left.
    I wouldn’t want him back - I just want better - and I can’t see it right now.
