I was there yesterday and have vowed never to return. No problem with the cancellation, that was a genuine snow bomb and clearly caught them unawares, but jeez, what a dump Burnley is.

Went to an away game at Oldham in 93 (I think) ... is Burnley as depressing as that hole ?
Was a City equivalent of a smiths record.
To top it all we lost 1 nil and I watch Andy Gray in a spurs shirt put in a performance that would have made Ndombele blush.

Suddenly my tale of a trip to Pride Park on a February day so cold I was so focused on keeping warm I didn't even know what the score was until I watched it on MOTD back in my student digs (we lost, of course) doesn't seem so bad...

Saddleworth is affluent and desirable, but the rest is a dumping ground for immigrants.
Had you gone there in 1900, Churchill was MP and Oldham was the biggest cotton spinning town in the world with all the wealth which went alongside that. This government has returned Britain to Victorian times so far as so many social and economic issues are concerned, bit unsurprisingly hasn’t recreated the industrial power of Northern towns of that time.

I think it was Joe Royle who said Oldham was the coldest place in England, and that was when he was their manager!

The first Mrs SC came from Chadderton, which is part of Oldham. We would visit her relatives and I remember it as being an ok place, but this was the mid 70’s mind. Now it’s a far far less inviting place. If you’re looking for a town to rival Burnley as a dump, then I nominate Luton.

I still maintain that Archway is the coldest place in the entire UK

Seriously, it's the only time I ever had to wear a hoodie in June

It's just a bit windy. Even that's gone down dramatically after they remodelled it.

Benson in Oxfordshire is often the coldest weather station.

That's because the staff commute there from Archway...

Out in the field near Leek in Staffs. My water bottle froze. Not the coldest I've been, which was in (West) Germany so not really part of this interesting spiral away from football.

Not so long ago (2014), I found myself living (for two years) in a place called Ancoats in Manchester.
Took a trip to Oldham one afternoon, just to sightsee for an hour + a half... thought I had stepped into a bygone episode of Corrination Street.
    A very remarkable place.

Late to the party with this one...
Went to TM September '73. Bleak, cold and stagnant - and that was just our performance! 2-2 draw.
The walk from the station through tipping rain! Only positive was sharing a carriage with the team on the way back to London. Great laugh.

Vowed never to go up there again, then 2 years later dated a lass from Stalybridge so got to know the area a bit better. My opinion of Burnley didn't go up however!

There's half an inch of snow on my driveway this morning

Sean Dyche is no doubt preparing to call off training...
