Yeah plus it's not his money and he's essentially saying of they can get the right players great and otherwise we won't bother.
Its anything but Brucesque. At no point did he say "Well ya know, its always difficult for us in this window. We would like to make some additions to the squad obviously, but ya know, we will need to wait for the top6 to make their moves first, then the next 6, then the next 6, hopefully once they've finished and the championship start making some moves we can then access our options with 3 hours to go."
More weird ****. Why wait? https://thisisfutbol.com/2021/11/bl...m-david-ornstein-director-of-football-update/
You can post what you think but I can’t post what I think? You posted something and I commented. I thought that was standard practice on a forum. Anyway I haven’t got any knickers on…
You can post whatever you like. Buy put some knickers on. It stinks: your one of the 62% of smelly people.
I have a feeling a few managers are now being asked about the transfer window across Europe, it just seems to be slower here due to the amount of managerial changes. With Ole being punted we had been linked with the likes of Lingard and Jones and Henderson from Man Utd. That's going to be up in the air with a new manager in, at Barca we were linked with Dembele and with a new manager in there that one is up in the air, We'd been linked with Mings at Villa and that's the same story. Just the press trying to create news and revel in the situation we're in. I'd rather we took our time and got the correct person in for DOF role. I feel this is a bigger appointment than the manager role now. The guy needs to be good in the transfer market, have a cracking scouting network and the ability to create a new training ground and academy from scratch. In addition he is going to have to have a certain playing philosophy in mind and all sorts of other stuff. End of the day we're 11 wins from safety. The sooner we start chalking some of these ****ers off the better.
The chap who has said would like to come and is available. Emanalo or whatever he’s as good as we are going to get.
Has he any experience in training ground and academy building projects? I'm not sure myself? So just asking the question. I know Campos wants the job too. I would argue he is better in the transfer market than Emenalo. Difference is Campos likes complete control and this has been and may still be a stumbling block. Likewise Edwards probably beats Emenalo in the list too but isn't available yet due to contractual issues with Liverpool. They will be doing their homework and will make a decision soon enough i'm sure. For what its worth Emenalo may have bought a very young De Bruyne and Salah - It wasn't under his watch that they turned world class though. It wasn't till they left the bridge they turned world class. The purchase of Eden Hazard and him turning out to be class was as obvious as someone buying Mbappe. Courtois is maybe the best he has unearthed and been involved with.
I wouldn't expect much in January anyway given the clubs position.. They've told is 250 million over 5 years so maybe 50 in January if the right players are up for it. As far as dofs well the clubs in limbo for whats only a short period of time. Employees and employers need to know what business plan they're actually looking at.
I have no idea. And your right there may be better but they may not want to come or be able to as you stated about the Liverpool chap. I think we are at the point where we could do with some key positions filled to then plan. There will be other roles for the infrastructure and training ground etc. Things like estates managers and technical directors etc. They also need filled. Scouting networks and chief scouts etc. recruitment directors. The club has had nothing for so long we need the full package. I think Eddie probably already knows what areas he needs to strengthen.
There's two very different scenarios at play and January isn't a time for building squads it's just about plugging a few holes and they can't really start a proper plan until they know what league they're in.
Someone within the club/board has been dealing with transfers, because the news in Spain which hasn't been denied anywhere is we have offered Dembele £15m a year after tax, which has blown every other offer out the water and has Barca scrambling and tugging at his heart strings as they can't get near it. I'm going to guess we will target players like this - massive wages with no transfer fee or a small transfer fee - see Umtiti, Ramsey, Tarkowski, Sanchez, Kessie etc.
Our issue is the plugging the gaps bit. Most clubs may make 1 or 2 additions to bolster squads, cover for injuries. Even plugging gaps LWB,CB,RWB,CM,RW and another CF has us up to 6.
