I think you are right. Theres no real rhyme nor reason behind then bar some bargain or other that levy got.advised on?

Doherty was made clear he was not mournihos man for example or sessengnon looks a wonderkid signing etc etc etc.

They have/had son and kane but nobody has really exploited those consistently while the defense has been let either away.

Doherty form at Wolves had fallen off a cliff and was amazed Spurs bought him particularly as they play with FB's and it was obvious he was a wing back and definitely not a FB. Sessegnon again having seen him in PL at Fulham i was surprised they were willing to pay so much for him .
They have actually spent a shed load in recent years the problem is they have all failed .

Surely you go get tickets to the toilet bowl and are sure of your ground. How did it take 31 hours from Dallas to london to burnely btw.

I've got tickets for Leeds on boxing day, it's my boys first game. He will find out on Christmas day. I'm already giddy thinking about it.
