Just can't get excited about Jota, scores goals, but no pace and doesn't link up very well .

Very harsh. Thinks he’s slotted in brilliantly. He’s not as good as Jota, not as dynamic as Mane, and not as good in his link up as firmino, but he’s more clinical than mane and firmino and has a back of getting important goals.

Been a hell of a signing.

Jota knows where the goal is.

That's a happy knack all on it's own and he gets the system klopp wants which is pressing and closing.

Very good header of the ball.

Hes certainly not rapid and he isnt a guy who will go do back flicks and stuff but he knows how to get into that scoring zone.

In the end we really need to start hauling in chelsea asap. I'd take a messy draw where chelsea lose a couple more players to red cards or whatever.

Oh and 5 points gap to 5th with vastly superior gd suggests we are well placed now if we can go on the needed run this festive season then 4th will be put to bed very quickly indeed.

The only question now is if we can improve our goals against record against the better teams. Southampton made us look extremely vulnerable to the press and made a lot of good positions. Alisson saved what 3? Last ditch type stuff even if one was 4 miles offside. We need to improve still.

Forwards are just killing the average sides, but the midfield control and gaps we are seeing are worrying
Southampton can be happy they imo were better than either arsenal or porto this week in troubling us but they should be sending us big signals of how vulnerable we are

Jota has a knack of getting in the right positions. He doesn't have the pace of Mane or Salah, nor the work ethic of Firmino, but hes done ok so far

Jota has a goal per minute record as good as Mo in the last year so i can't see why people aren't more impressed after all for years people wanted Firm to get more goals and now we have the VF goals people want Firms ( sometimes ) better build up play .

True, the game plan is designed to give be heart attacks constantly.

Like when thiago decided to just stand there in the pen area not moving while 3 close him down and zero thought to clear the ball.

We played out at times really scarily and others higher up just hooked it up in the air randomly.

Its like our back 5 want to pass it and midfield dont lol.

How was the Southampton player not sent off for that tackle on mane btw? If that’s on the front of the leg it’s a leg breaker and no one’s even questioning it. For some reason cos it’s studs to the calf it’s not a red? Thought was a horror tackle

You lot were excellent. Blip v West Ham (who are a good team now) aside you've been playing really well again for quite some time now.

Ralph's gamble with change of shape backfired hugely and he should have changed it earlier but I don't think it'd have changed the result tbh.

Still think Chelsea for the league but if you're still really close in mid-March then I'd fancy you strongly.

Wrong attitude against Wham, they are big and strong and you have to match the physicality to start with and we didn't, hopefully we learned. I think it's between us and Chelsea but won't write City off yet.

I think it’s between Chelsea and City but haven’t written us off yet <laugh>
But a need to change some of the games we have been drawing I think is imperative if we are to challenge.

I think that after winning the first in ages plus Champions League success and our play in general we have to accept that we're part of the title race at this moment in our history. We have a chance and will be close to it. There will be bumps along the way the odd loss and draw but you just have to move on.

I agree but we have had a fair few bumps already
I think this season will be quite tight and I know we are in there
However of the 3 I think atm we are the ones who are more likely to struggle against that group of teams who are not top four but are not lower half teams
That’s where I currently feel we will come unstuck
Happy that we are currently in the running though :)
