Swansea City v Reading Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - Swansea.com stadium Date - 27 November 2021 Kick off - 3pm Following their deserved 2-0 away victory at Barnsley, next up for Russell Martin’s Swansea squad is a home match against lowly Reading. On Wednesday evening, late goals from Olivier Ntcham and Jamie Paterson gave the Swans victory at Oakwell. Ntcham scored from close range before Paterson drilled home, as the Swans won a game which had been short on chances. Barnsley had hoped the appointment of former Sweden Under-21 boss Poya Asbaghi would prompt an upturn in fortunes. But it was a familiar story for the Tykes as they were beaten for the 10th time in 11 games. The Swans’ third away league victory of the season sees them climb to ninth, while Barnsley remain deep in relegation trouble in 23rd. The previous evening, Jayden Bogle's strike gave Sheffield United a narrow win at Reading in a match that was overshadowed by Blades midfielder John Fleck's collapse. The Scotland international required medical attention after collapsing off the ball midway through the second half. Fleck was helped back to his feet and given oxygen by medical staff before being stretchered off. Thankfully, Fleck was discharged from hospital on Wednesday but will continue to be monitored closely by the Blades’ medical team. Defender Bogle's volley just before the hour helped the visitors to their first win in four matches. The defeat left Reading in 21st position, just 2pts outside the relegation zone. The Swans have played Reading on 84 previous occasions with the Swans winning 34, Reading 33 and 17 drawn matches. The teams have already met once this season when the Swans visited the Select Car Leasing Stadium in the First Round of the League Cup and returned to South Wales with a 3-0 victory - the first win under Russell Martin’s leadership. Without doubt, the most memorable match between the two sides was the Championship Play Off Final at Wembley in 2011 when the Swans ran out 4-2 winners: Turning to Saturday, this is a match that the Swans will want to win to maintain their charge for a Play Off place and I’m going for a 3-1 home win
So far, the Swans' rank in the Championship for: Forward passes - First Successful passes into the attacking third - First Successful passes into the opposition half - First Passes, dribbles and carries into final third over 90 minutes - First Seems Martin’s plan is coming together
Thanks Taff. We need to get a winning run going and Saturday gives us the opportunity to do that. I am optimistic that we will get a couple of goals so it's 2-1 for me.
You didn't mention shots on target I was always in favour of giving Martin time as I could see the shoots (no pun intended) of recovery early on. It takes time and the last piece of the jigsaw is a potent attack. He's built the foundations, so it's the obvious next progression. No doubt as he intended. It has to be 4 - 2 to the Swans
So if a pass goes sideways 10 metres but forwards 1 centimetre does that count as a forward pass. Just asking.
We will see creative attacking play and clinical finishing with Reading falling apart in the second half. 4-0 And then I woke up. It was just a dream. I seem to be in a rather cynical mood this morning. Sorry. Will put the positive hat on for the rest of the day
Definitely but let us win handsomely tomorrow and we can watch the class of 2021 against n and again instead
