This might cause people to revise their predictions Anyone expecting a 17 year old CB to have a worldie?
“You’re Spurs, and you know you are!”. Any chance we could get take him off Burnley’s hands for that game? Even at 34 he’d show more passion and determination for this shirt than 90% of the ones we’ve got at the moment.
Well, I think we all learned one fundamental lesson during the past week: we can’t afford to have any of our first-string team either injured or red-carded! They are (strictly speaking) irreplaceable… and that’s not actually a compliment! There was a time when we could disguise the muddle at the back by scoring a few worldies up front. But with Kane/Son off the boil, those days are gone (hopefully temporarily). In fact, I was going to use “Those Were The Days” as my song this week, until I checked and found I’d used it before (March 2020, following a late turn-around when Wolves had beaten us. Doherty scored for them (remember him?). I predicted Parrott and Lo Celso would score. Remember them? And guess who we were due to play? Burnley! I predicted a draw, of course: 2-2. A draw it was, 1-1. Who scored? Dele Alli! Remember him?) So I switched to this rendering by my favourite Irish folk-rock band, the Saw Doctors. Their questioning of whether there is any sense in their own loyalty in this song hits just the right note for me right now. Why do I still support you? Why do I always cheer you? Why do I still support you? Doesn't seem to matter who we play - White Hart Lane or somewhere far away! A month of Conte hasn’t stopped the flow: My frustration just grows and grows and grows! Why do I etc Our second string could be our downfall - They just don’t know the meaning of careful! Reserve defence is just an awful mess, And Conte’s sending out signals of distress! Why do I etc We’ll see their pictures in the national paper Leave them out – out of the Spurs team forever! ’Gainst Burnley we can’t score (They’ll be scoreless too!) But look! I’m still writing songs for you! Why do I etc Prediction:Burnley NIL Spurs NIL Scorers: NIL Cheers, Spurf!
