Someone or something 'dear' to them ? --Your thoughts will probably turn to a loving member of family, or a dear friend..... And, I wouldn't blame anyone if the mourning period has never stopped. Maybe your loss is a faithful pet.....Perhaps you have fond memories of an 'inanimate' object - some 'thing' that, just by looking or touching, gives a 'warm' sensation. When we 'lose' someone, or some 'thing', it affects each of us in different ways - although we can all probably empathise with everyone's 'grief.' Obviously, my greatest sense of loss and grief, comes from the 'passing' of members of family and dear friends.... The losses have been 'horrible' to bear...... but - life have to 'go on.' It is said that time 'heals.' -- Personally, I'm not sure ! However, time will give an opportunity to 'adjust' to your loss - -- contrary to the expression that '' misery likes company'' - company does NOT 'like' misery ! People must learn to adjust their lives - and contain their 'loss' and resulting emotions in their hearts - silently and 'spiritually' cherishing their memories in their hearts - in parallel with their new 'circumstances' in everyday life. So - why have I become so 'deep' & philosophical this morning ? I'm just trying to give some words of comfort ( if not wisdom - from experience ) - to prepare Gills fans, for what I fear, is a very real and grave possibility of Mr. Scally placing the Club in Administration - from which, I do not see any way 'back.' The finances at GFC are probably dire - and won't be helped by attendances of 3,000 ((( it didn't look to be that many last night. ))) The 'atmosphere' that exists between Mr. Scally and the fans is nothing less than toxic... The Chairman clearly has had enough (( but - not yet quite 'enough' cash out of the fans.... which is the only thing that prevents him closing the doors for good. ))... The manager has already changed his postcode to SG2 8RH..... and is determined to use tactics that will ensure that Gills are relegated.... well- you can't expect to call somebody a 'Fat Scottish ( you know the rest) '' - and expect them to forgive and forget !........... .... and when relegation DOES happen - Mr. Scally will know ( as I do ), that many MORE fans of The Gills will continue to 'leave.' It is evident that - despite their 'loyalty', fans do not want to just be a cash-cow for Mr. Scally - and given the absolute excrement, that was served up last night ((( and on so many other occasions.))) .. The 'cash-cow' will be left with only one teat - from which Mr. Scally will not be able to 'milk' enough to give him the 'gold=top' cream to which he has become accustomed for the last 26 years.... Mr. Scally will close the 'Milking Parlour.' He will care NOTHING for the Club or the remaining few idiots....... .... we (very few idiots), will be left to mourn our loss. We will have our fond memories - but will have to endure our grief, and adjust our lives to accept the grief - because nothing we can do will bring back the person or object of so much love. I read on twitter last night after the game, claims that some fans got banned. It appears according to the comments I read, that a small peaceful protest was organised outside the ground, I did see a picture of the group and a policeman and what looked like a couple of stewards were there. From what I read, no abuse was shouted, no trouble, it was all peaceful. When they then tried to enter the ground they were advised they were banned. I can't be precise on this detail, as obviously it's from comments on twitter. What I do understand one particular fan that goes to all the games, missed his first game this season as a result ie he was a peaceful protestor. I'd have words to the wise on this if I may, banning 'peaceful' protestors will alienate non protestors surely, if this type of action is being implemented as a result of exercising your democratic right. Personally I have no argument with the chairman, he owns the club it is what it is, I just wish sometimes though......oh, you know what I'm going to say!
It comes to something when even Dave, the humble owner of the burger van , has more business sense than Mr. Scally.... Dave 'missed' the game - because he knew it wasn't going to be financially viable**..... at least Gills fans know that it's NOT Daves burgers that are making people sick ! **and Dave had the decency to announce his intention on socail media -as advance notice..... He could have just excused himself by saying he ''didn't know the kick-off time.''
There was a lot of talk on the Gills Discussion Forum FB page about the banning of those who'd been involved in the protest - enough for me to be satisfied that it's very probably true. At the moment I'm not convinced that Scally will put the club into administration. He has too much to lose, as if it goes into administration the value the club will be zero so he'll get nothing out of what. However under company law it is the responsibility of the directors to ensure that a business is trading solvently, so if the financial situation does become critical he may have to. This particular piece of legislation is there primarily to protect creditors and to ensure that additional debt is not loaded onto the balance sheet with no prospect of the debt being repaid. This hasn't stopped other businesses from trading whilst insolvent, a situation not limited to football clubs, but it is there. Furthermore if the club is forced into administration Scally will lose a very valuable source of personal income. However what I don't understand is why he hasn't sold his shares. There have reportedly (from apparently reliable sources) that he has turned down offers well above the value of the business as represented by the balance sheet, keeping in mind that he only controls roughly 75% of the shares of the Club, and therefore only owns roughly 75% of the value of the club.
