Yes. Because we’ve won a match and they think we’ll be fine with caretaker Carrick.

What was the main difference tonight and the previous matches? The single major difference was Fernandes not starting. Ole should have done this ages ago. But as Scholes said, maybe the plan should now be, especially against the likes of Chelsea this weekend, to keep it tight and defensive first half with VDB and later in the second half get the likes of Fernandes and rashford on to score the goal and win the match.

This is only a start. They need to perform against Chelsea.

And to top it off we've qualified for the last 16. Pressure off.

This is the problem. No football ambition from our heirarchy.

And keeping Woodward on to recruit the new manager shows just how out of touch with reality these clowns are. I wouldn't trust that bloke to pick a can of soup for my shopping trolley.

There were some positives today and much of that was down to selection and playing players in the right positions.

What I saw was the passing was better but it is only one game and we still weren't moving the ball quick enough. I don't think it warranted enough to think we can go on a run of good results which is what we need.

Carrick has 100% winning record. The best in history!

Not only qualified but looks like Utd have finished top of the group. Cannot be caught. ;)

Given up on Poch, who must be disappointed that Utd didn’t come for him straight away.

It could be we've agreed to wait till the end of the season. Which I think is weakness on our part.

So bringing in Valverde until then.

The executive has been searching for the best available man that can work with the current set up of trainers, and executive managers. Someone with experience of big clubs as well as success in interim management. No one apparently has better credentials that Ole, who could return for 7 months in that capacity.

United have approached PSG to take Poch immediately. <party>

Here's the best bit, there's no release clause in Poch's contract.

    Meaning two things:

United just have to negotiate a compo expected to be around £10m.

Or Poch can resign and all that PSG can do is chase him/us for compo through the courts. A scenario which I doubt will be necessary or will happen.

All we need is some of these highly paid ‘executives’ to quietly and quickly do their jobs.

I also think if Poch is keen to come to United and/or is afraid of missing out on the job again, he needs to tell the PSG heirarchy he wants to leave. That strenghens United's position and makes the process a lot easier.

They may be brain dead but fair play to those involved with this if they're cracking on with getting the deal done.

Where the hell is @glazerfodder ? I don’t get it! What is he so unhappy about?

The crap shoot scenario that has played out clearly shows that there are no winners in this story.

    Come back home, brother!

Luis Enrique is another option that would be fantastic. Owen Hargreaves was talking about that and I think that he’s right on the money.

Seems a logical approach, given PSG are in Manchester.

    It looks like there is at least a plan of sorts, with a couple of potential (and satisfactory) outcomes;

1, Poch comes now, everything tickety boo.

2, Valverde is interim, Poch has to wait till summer.

Option 2 I suppose brings ten Hag into the equation, but I really think we need to nail a target and stick to him, if we start bringing in other candidates it understandably pisses off the actual target.

The ball is in Poch’s court. Apparently PSG have already rebuffed an initial approach from Utd. He needs to be brave and tell the owners he wants to come to Utd. Brave thing to do but if Utd have told him the job is his then this is exactly what he needs to do. He needs some balls but otherwise nothing will happen.

he knows he can’t wait until summer when anything can happen. What happens if Utd gets into CL and gets a cup? And offers the interim the permanent job? He misses out yet again.
