My doubts are based on the “perfect marriage” scenario that everyone is pushing around. Such scenarios rarely play out well.

Poch can’t possibly be the only manager in world football that is fit enough to manage the club. Why such desperate push?

Really don't know, his demeanour comes across similar to Ole but you can't tell from polite interviews.

We need a strong manager next time or **** all will change.

Yet the one manager who can and does kick ass and couldn’t give a damn whether he is liked or not is deemed not suitable :’not the right profile for the club’ as GNeville puts it. More like he could have a higher profile than some of the non entities on the executive. It doesn’t matter now as he’s at Spurs. But the executive would never employ him as he wouldn’t suffer fools. Not a mild mannered man like Ole who wants to be liked and friends with everyone.

You simply cannot have a big prize winning team without upsetting some players. That’s the reality. And that’s why top elite managers are worth their weight in gold.

I disagree about Poch's demeanour. Don't look at how he is in front of the camera (which btw is no way as mild mannered as Ole), I go by how I've seen him on the touchline during matches. He's forthright and gives his players stick. I also have read news articles in which he's described as quite a strict and demanding argentine in the dressing room.

****ing hell, if Poch not suitable then who on earth is?

Who fits your criteria? (I know I sound like GF here ffs!!)

    Truth is, we can't have Carrick in charge for too long as there is a real danger one of two things will happen;

He does well and they give him the job!!!

We sink into a relegation scenario and out of the CL very quickly.

If the stars are aligning and Zidane is being lined up by PSG we really should take Poch on board, sharpish.

The club then have to start looking into the future on manager recruitment and have ten Haag in mind for ultimately replacing Poch, whether that's in two, three or five years time.

He will still be out there.

And I would also welcome Rodgers under the same scenario.

It would be better to have Rodgers in place as an actual experienced premier league manager than trundle along with Carrick in charge.

Rodgers could do it for two years, whatever.

If he's a success, great. If not, we then line up the likes of ten Haag.

    This is what Chelsea do.

They are top of the league and favourites for it, and are current CL holders.
We can no longer be bogged down by some long term 'project' or other, we need a manager in now and then that managers ultimate successor in planning.

The Ferguson template that the club has been looking for up to now no longer exists. And that search has proved and is proving damaging to the clubs prospects. Moyes was recruited along those lines. Was given 6 years contract to show that the club was thinking long term. He was sacked less than a season in. At that time, I thought maybe looking for that man to fit the club is no longer appropriate we should just go for the manager of the moment and not expect him to stay for 10-15 years ala Fergie. Perhaps 2-3 years if he brings trophies and maintain Utd at the top. A Real Madrid model where you are out if you don’t meet expectations rather than given time.

The search for the manager with the right profile has failed. I wouldn’t have minded Conte. But he is out. I think Zidane is not keen so no point trying to persuade him. I would be happy if Poch came mid season to avoid that interim caretaker and caretaker farce. But watch out for the next results. We could drop like a stone if we lose the next 2 or 3 and suddenly yes as pointed above we are talking relegation instead of CL.

Allardyce is free, he'd probably get you top 4 and would take a short-term position, which is what I think your board should do as they waited too long.

Quite frankly, I just want a bastard of a coach for this team. Poch would have been great two years ago. But I don’t think he’s bastard enough for these bunch of prima donnas. I, WANT, A, BASTARD!!! That is all!

That said, I don’t think he would be a bad coach for us overall when the dust settles. He would fit right in!

you would loved Conte who doesn’t take prisoners. Either you play the way he wants or you are whipped tortured thrown into solitary confinement and out of the team.

Why can’t we appoint Carrick for the full interim job until the end of the season? He’s done a great job….

We’ve never beaten Villarreal away. 2-0 is a good result.

    Just joking.

What today shows is that it doesn't take much to get this squad playing well.

If anything, what the Board should realise from that game is that we should get the permanent manager in even moreso now because there's no need to write the season off!

If you have a winning mentality that's what you do.

Was a very nice second half performance.

Who'd have thought Jadon Sancho would be good playing in his actual preferred position, shock? Ole could have saved him self a **** load of hurt by doing that from the minute he signed him.

Had hoped that Carrick would leave DVDB on and sub one of Fred or McTom off but truth is, they both played very well once Fernandes joined them in midfield.

Good to see Wan Bissaka playing so well and interacting with Sancho (again, if you don't try it you won't know), and Shaw wasn't missed for a second so hopefully it'll be a wake up for him. (nor was Greenwood so ditto there)

No though, Carrick shouldn't stay any longer than needed. Shame, but him, Phelan and the other guy going to be also looking for work soon as I would assume Poch brings in his own men, quite rightly too. Maybe a place for Carrick, but that's it.

Very interesting post match debate between Scholes, Rio and Hargreaves. The host just let them talk and it was good. Really enjoyed that.

I think I go with Hargreaves and Rio on this one. The job is a gift for any decent manager. The club, the squad, the fanbase, the potential, is huge.

It's not even rocket science. If you settle this team down, play the players that are in form and play them in their correct positions, things will click. The talent is without a doubt there.

I particularly liked that Bruno didn't start that game. This is the type of rotation that we should have been doing to get the best out of every single member of the squad. There should be no untouchables in this squad because they should all have what it takes to do the job when called upon. The resentment has to be watching out of form players getting picked ahead on you sitting on the bench and ready to go.

We all know our Board are absolute fcking morons. As much as they were on the verge of bringing in Poch yesterday whatever it cost, after today they'll be thinking we're sorted until the end of the season, as we are with Carrick.

They may go for an interim but no way they'll go all out to get the permanent manager in now.

    They're ****s.
