It does come across that the players we have, do respond to instructions.. First half, had more intent, second half, hold on to that lead.. I think it shows, we struggle out of possession and sitting back… Blackburn were not that great at the back, yet we allowed them time on the ball and grow in confidence.. Imo we gave away the opportunity to push on and put the game to bed.. 2 points lost. The tactics & instructions come from the manager.. we need improvements, not only by the players but the with the man in charge..
was the management instruction sit back and let them at us!!! HT IT WAS 55% TO 45% 7 ..... 0 2 ..... 0 4 ..... 0 after 75 mins 45% TO 55% 7 ..... 6 2 ..... 1... goal = 1-1 4 ..... 1 we allowed them almost an extra 5 mins on the ball for 6 shots and a goal AFTER 90 MINS STILL 45% to 55% but we managed to improve to 10 ..... 8 4 ....... 1 5 ....... 1 Last 6 mins 1 more shot from us in 15mins +6 we had 4 shots 2 on target and a corner the wasted 30 mins ....wow we could maybe have got another goal or 2! based on first half ... WHO is to blame!!!!!!!!
Is interesting as just been watching Watford v Man U.. on paper in comparison, Watford players nowhere near as good, but Ranieri set them up to press and not give Man U anytime to settle.. imo his tactics were spot on.. NP got lots of credit for the setup of Leicester’s Premiership side but it was Ranieri‘a tactics & setup that produced the performance out of those players to get the best from them..
So you can't 'decipher'. I'll try again. I blame the players entirely. They got LJ and DH the sack and they're doing their best now to be rid of Pearson. The difference for Pearson is he inherited worse players than played in 2018/19 under LJ. Check out especially the midfield options back then. Pack, Korey Patterson all playing in the Championship and Brownhill in the Premiership. Pearson has to make do with a crocks and kids. Please make more effort than 1For, he came up with players who were plying their trade at Newport, Sunderland and Blackburn. And even more 'thick' he mentioned Pearson who I had to remind him only made his City debut 8 months ago. Agree now ?
Spot on RP -January will be very interesting-NPs signing off Tanner-James-Atkinson all look the part-if he can get another four or five in January and get rid of the bad apples . SL and NP have clearly agreed going forward let’s wait and see
I agree that the players are 'playing their part' in this dismal run of dog ****e results. I've acknowledged it several times in my posts. They don't pick the formation, or decide unilaterally to sit back and defend deep on 1-0 leads themselves though - they are instructed to do that (unless they really are acting as a militant bunch and ignoring Nigel completely of course, playing their own tactics and formations)..
I come from a different angle on this one, we played a decent team holding 7th place in the table, our on field performance vastly improved, several vital players were available and contributed well, our manager has recovered from Covid and played a full part in Saturdays action, we took a point and ended the game strong. The manager has every right to to select the team of his choice, we all know there are players that are not playing for the shirt, the manager knows it, they know it, they have been warned, the holiday is over, step up, be moved on or have restricted playing time, they are taking the piss and dragging us all down.
Yeah agree with most of that, Yes he does have the right to select the team....I think more of the question is, are they fulfilling the instructions laid out by the manager? and are they being told, if they take the lead, do we then just sit back and defend it.......I think the tactics are in question....well they are by me, anyhow!!
I agree with some of what you discuss but the manager has got to give players a chance to show responsibility, he has given them plenty and boy how they have responded NOT, like I said I'm coming from a different angle. Nige has made some blunders of that there is no doubt but his heart is behind our cause but contracted players signed by other individuals are protected, know it and we continue to have to endure them and keep paying for it.
When we had Pack and Patterson, all you did was moan they weren’t good enough, and now you’re holding them up as the yardstick to be measured against… NP cast Paterson aside when he came in last season, so the blame for that is on him. The point remains, why when we are on top, does NP repeatedly get them to sit deep? That has to come from the manager telling the team to do it.
NP was told to reduce the wages bill-JP was easy to remove from that as his contract expired-where others are on big wages and contracts are harder to shift.
Blackburn are just 7 pts ahead at 1 point just just 4pts ahead BBurn games to date 7 - 6 - 5 BCFC 5 - 5 - 8 top 2 are now 9pts and 8 pts clear of play off's [3rd ] ... ... ... last season top 6 were only 8pts from top team 37 pts, to 6th 29pts, .... City on 27pts 10th. a run [ well a miracle of ] 3 wins on the trot could put us 6th on points !..however other results would have a influence! and likely we would move up to 11th we then face Hull AFTER game 3 which is Derby a point better than us [ without -21 considered ] WE are not doing that bad compared to teams outside the top 6 ... however versus last season form we are worse by 7 pts ! NP & CF were both strong defenders! ? , maybe that is the problem? it tips the mindset toward ... "played 45 mins and they have had less of the ball, no shots no corners .. we are fort knox!!! let them try and take our lead away!!!"
Keeping Williams fit will make a hell of a difference, he’s exactly what we’ve been missing for several seasons
We were not "holding on" Saturday, unlike previous games I wasn't terrified about conceding a last minute goal, we were on the front foot looking for the winner for a change and I highly doubt that NP tells the players in the second half to drop deep and panic every time the ball comes into the box, a bit of concentration and composure from the defence and we wouldn't have conceded that goal, they need to be better mentally.
