He didn't want the discussion to be a distraction for the team and so did the "honourable thing" Pat Cummins will probably be promoted from vice captain.

Humanity is rich and varied and it's this that makes us the most dangerous or the most creative of creatures.

I think the risk is that the woman in question or the tabloids leak the msgs during the Ashes. If there was no risk of that, then I think they would've stood by the original verdict of the enquiry, kept him captain and rode out the story.

Still think it's harsh that he'll never now be captain because of set of texts between consenting adults. And from what I've read, they were made before he was in his current relationship.

The problem is that he was brought in to clean up the mess and restore the reputation of Australian cricket after Bancroft, Smith and Warner sandpapergate and so anything that was seen as detracting from this was going to be an issue.

But wasn't the original case in 2018, at about the time of sandpapergate? I would've thought they'd have avoided it then if they were going to. I get it though, he's done it as much for his family as well as anything else.

I know there was bantz about the scandal on the T20 thread but tbh I was never that bothered about it. It was hardly Hanse Cronje territory. And nigh on every country's had a scandal. Never saw it as much of a big deal tbh.

Here it was considered to be a national disgrace and one that required the players to wear sackcloth and ashes for quite a long time. As for Paine it's probably his last test series and there was talk about him being replaced as captain anyway but it would have been good for him to finish off captaining the winning ashes team :emoticon-0105-wink: And yes it was probably more to do with his family.

Strange how millions who can not vote in the US or have even lived there are entitled to have an opinion on Trump?
Everyone is entitled to their opinion whether they vote or not, some might agree with one side for some things and the other side for others.
Problem is you are labled as either a woketard treehugging leftie or a jack boot sporting Nazi.
All politicians are lying ****s anyway.

I voted for everybody. We have PR and have to rank all the parties in order of preference it's a major task. (Typical ballot paper)

Thank goodness the legal system is still independent in the USA. Even MSNBC and CNN couldn't build a kangaroo court for Kyle Rittenhouse.
I applaud the 12 good men and women.

Mayor of New York Bill De Blasio said "This verdict is disgusting and it sends a horrible message to this country. Where is the justice in this? We can't let this go. We need stronger laws to stop violent extremism from within our own nation. Now is the time."

Bill, the justice is that he was tried in front of a jury who heard all the evidence and decided, unanimously, that he was not guilty. It's called the Law and as Mayor of the largest City in the nation you should know that.

In the USA I thought the legal system was part of the federal government. I find the acquittal of Kyle Rittenhouse quite strange but it is their system. I wonder if it will be appealed?

i find your reply quite strange when a rapist an molester was bashing your head in with a skate board would you say peace brother,or while an armed habitual criminal was pointing a loaded pistol in your face and even under oath said Rittenhouse was no threat till i pointed my gun at him, i would drop the twats like a fresh turd. worlds a better place without them in it all 4 wanna be victims were vile criminals
