Fruit flies don't come from inside fruit! Only a mad Tim would think that!

They are attracted by the sugar that fruit left in tepid conditions excrets.

Throw out the contaminated fruit, clean the area thoroughly and store fruit in a fridge or secure cupboard from now on.
