Liverpool readying bid for ( insert any made up rubbish here)

I quite like Liverpool, I think that both cities are similar in terms of their passion for their respective clubs.

Enrique was a great signing for them, you can't really pretend otherwise. Carroll was probably the worst signing (in terms of money spent) of the decade!

Both Liverpool and Newcastle are "big" clubs in terms of fanbases and distant history. But while at the moment we know our place and recognise Champions League is out of the question, it makes me cringe when Liverpool claim that they can "challenge for the title." That arrogance is the only thing that puts me off Liverpool

I can agree with most of what you said there, although I think you may struggle to find any level headed Liverpool fan who thinks they can win the league. I have only been sure we could win the league twice in recent years and that was when we bought Torres and in 08/09. At first I thought we had a chance to improve on that season but then we sold Alonso and only brought in a couple of players. Now I think most fans just want to get top 4, I can't see us winning the league in the next 5 years with the likes of City and Chelsea's riches and Utd's natural ability to win the damn thing even on a 'bad' season.

 

Yeah, but your 'feeder club' is above you in the league and has over £40m of your clubs money

 

I don't hate Liverpool or their fans but i hate the arse licking they get from the media. I remember all the bullshit we got after some sections of our support called Keegan ''King Kev'' but even the media have started calling Dogleash ''King Kenny'' and go on about how great he is. Also the fact that Liverpool deserve a PL title or to be in the Top 4, no they don't!! You have to earn it! . Only a small things but it boils my blood

Enrique was a good signing for Liverpool for 6.7m but if we spend that on Aly Cissokho in January I would be pretty chuffed.

 

Fair enough, I guess most of your fans are rational. It's like a few seasons ago for us when the Southern Media (Sky) portrayed the "deluded" Geordies who stood outside St James Park on a Tuesday afternoon. It doesn't represent the majority of our fanbase.

Sorry, but if we were doing better than Chelsea at the moment after they overpaid for one of our strikers and took away a key player for a reasonable price (see the similarities there?) I'm sure we would all be laughing at them. It's a good time to be a toon fan so lap it up while you can.
